Earlier this month, both Israel and Hamas publicly accepted President Donald Trump's 20-point plan for peace in the Gaza Strip.

However, this past weekend saw military strikes from Israel after it accused Hamas of violating the agreement.

Israel accuses Hamas of firing "an anti-tank missile"

That's according to Fox News, which noted how the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed the military action in a statement released on Sunday.

"Earlier today, terrorists fired an anti-tank missile and gunfire toward IDF troops operating to dismantle terrorist infrastructure in the Rafah area, in southern Gaza, in accordance with the ceasefire agreement," it read.

"In response, the IDF has begun striking in the area to eliminate the threat and dismantle tunnel shafts and military structures used for terrorist activity," the statement continued.

Fox News noted how Hamas replied with a statement of its own in which the terror organization denied violating the ceasefire's terms.

Hamas denies violating deal despite video of public executions

"We affirm our full commitment to implementing everything that has been agreed upon, foremost among which is the ceasefire in all areas of the Gaza Strip. We have no knowledge of any events or clashes taking place in the Rafah area," it stated.

"We have no connection to any events occurring in those areas, nor can we communicate with any of our fighters there if any of them remain alive," the group added.

Meanwhile, the U.S. Statement condemned Hamas after a video emerged in which its members could be seen carrying out mass executions of Palestinian dissidents.

"This planned attack against Palestinian civilians would constitute a direct and grave violation of the ceasefire agreement and undermine the significant progress achieved through mediation efforts," the department said in a statement on social media.

Trump threatens retaliation if killings continue

"The guarantors demand Hamas uphold its obligations under the ceasefire terms," it declared before insisting that the U.S. remains "resolute in our commitment to ensuring the safety of civilians."

The Hill noted that for his part, Trump responded to Hamas' violence by posting a threat of retaliation on his Truth Social platform.

"If Hamas continues to kill people in Gaza, which was not the Deal, we will have no choice but to go in and kill them," Trump wrote.
