Eight-five-year-old California Democratic Rep. Nancy Pelosi is serving her 19th term in office, having first won election to Congress in 1987.

However, a bombshell report suggests that one California state lawmaker is seeking to end Pelosi's decades-long career.

Sources say state Sen. Scott Wiener will launch a primary challenge

According to Politico, several individuals who are said to be close allies of Democratic state Sen. Scott Wiener indicated that he will mount a primary challenge to the former House speaker.

Breitbart noted how that claim echoes an earlier report published by The San Francisco Standard, which cited "sources close to Wiener."

They told the newspaper that Wiener has expressed interest in taking Pelosi's seat despite an expectation that he would let the longtime representative decide when to retire.

Wiener has a radical record

Wiener made headlines in 2020 when he championed a bill which gave judges more discretion over whether someone must register as a sex offender.

As KCRA 3 reported, the legislation would apply to men who engaged in anal or oral intercourse with boys between the ages of 14 and 17 provided that an age gap of no more than 10 years existed.

It mirrored a similar provision which applies to heterosexual sex, and Wiener said the bill was needed to treat "LGBTQ young people the exact same way that straight young people have been treated since 1944."

The state senator more recently raised eyebrows when he "expressed sympathy" for those who hated Charlie Kirk, describing the murdered conservative activist as a "vile bigot who did immeasurable harm."

Pelosi is also facing a challenge from AOC's former chief of staff

Wiener isn't the only one with an interest in unseating Pelosi as, Mission Local reported that 39-year-old Saikat Chakrabarti is as well.

A tech multi-millionaire who previously served as chief of staff to New York Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Chakrabarti addressed supporters in San Francisco’s Mission District earlier this month.

"It is clear as daylight: We are living in the middle of a fascist coup," he was quoted as telling the hundreds in attendance.

Chakrabarti pledged to fight for "transformational change," and insisted that it is not enough to "return to a pre-Trump status quo."
