A New York City federal jury found rap music mogul Sean "Diddy" Combs guilty this past July on two counts of transporting people across state lines for the purpose of prostitution.

While some have suggested that President Donald Trump may pardon Combs, the White House insists that those rumors are false.

White House official: "There is zero truth to the TMZ report"

According to NBC News, TMZ reported on Monday that the president is "vacillating" on the prospect of pardoning the music tycoon or at least commuting his sentence.

Combs was sentenced three weeks ago to more than four years in federal prison as well as five years of supervised release and a $500,000 fine.

"Trump will do what he wants," TMZ quoted one unnamed source as saying of the president's intentions. The source added that a commutation or pardon could come within days.

However, a White House official told NBC News, "There is zero truth to the TMZ report, which we would’ve gladly explained had they reached out before running their fake news."

"The President, not anonymous sources, is the final decider on pardons and commutations," the White House official went on to declare.

President accuses Combs of making "terrible statements" about him

NBC News recalled how in August, Trump was asked about the prospect of issuing a pardon to Combs during an interview with Newsmax.

"I was very friendly with him," the president said of his history with Combs. "I got along with him great, and he seemed like a nice guy."

"I didn’t know him well, but when I ran for office, he was very hostile," Trump continued, noting how Combs famously endorsed President Joe Biden in 2020.

"We don't like to have things cloud our judgment, right? But when you knew someone, and you were fine, and then you run for office, and he made some terrible statements," Trump asserted.

Trump commutes sentence of former GOP Rep. George Santos

One person to recently receive a commutation from the president is former New York Republican Rep. George Santos, who was sentenced to 87 months in prison for wire fraud and aggravated identity theft.

"George Santos was somewhat of a 'rogue,' but there are many rogues throughout our Country that aren't forced to serve seven years in prison," Fox News quoted the president as writing in a Truth Social post.

Santos was quick to express gratitude for the commutation in a social media post of his own, praising both God and Trump for "a true second chance at life."
