Depending on the audience, Democrats have the uncanny ability to suddenly pretend that their one of the people they're speaking to, often faking accents to fit in, only to totally humiliate themselves instead.

That happened again this week with Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), who was ridiculed into the ground after she suddenly slipped into a southern accent while speaking to an audience at Harvard about religious voters, the Daily Mail reported. 

While the 85-year-old Democratic lawmaker was speaking at the woke, Ivy League university, she quickly changed her accent, which reportedly left the audience stunned, as it was apparently quite bizarre.

The outlet reported that those in attendance provided a "nervous laugh" as Pelosi "chuckled along herself."

What happened?

What the outlet didn't note is that many believe she used the accent to mock Republicans of faith, given what she said while she slipped into the twangy, southern accent that's really never been a thing for her.

Pelosi's office was contacted for comment on the accent change, and only replied by sending a link to a Wikipedia page explaining what a "Baltimore accent" sounds like.

Pelosi is a native of Baltimore, though many didn't buy that that was the reason she did it, as many prominent Democrats have a history of using accents to either try to desperately connect with an audience or mock their rivals.

Needless to say, Pelosi was torched on social media for the incident.

Social media reaction

Users across social media had a heyday with Pelosi's accent change.

"This coming from a so-called Catholic who supports abortion on-demand. Not exactly the paragon of virtue she presents herself as…" one X user wrote, referring to what Pelosi was saying during her accent change.

Another X user wrote, "This is so horribly pathetic."

She definitely won't be the last Democrat to alter the way they speak to an audience.
