President Trump vows to remove Nicolas Maduro from power, says his 'days are numbered'
As President Donald Trump and his administration turn up the heat in the Caribbean by continuing to take out drug runners, the president indicated this week that the leader of Venezuela might soon be out of a job.
According to the New York Post, as the U.S. oversees the largest military buildup in the Caribbean in 35 years, President Trump said this week that he believes Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro's "days are numbered."
President Trump made the bombshell remark during a "60 Minutes" interview that aired on Sunday.
The president blamed Maduro not only for the increased drug and crime activity in the region, but also for the influx of Venezuelan migrants that continues to cause issues at the border.
What's going on?
President Trump wasn't shy about naming Maduro as a source of some of America's problems in the region.
"They’ve been treating us very badly, not only on drugs. They’ve dumped hundreds of thousands of people into our country that we didn’t want — people from prisons. They emptied their prisons into our country," he said.
Trump added, "They also, if you take a look, they emptied their mental institutions and their insane asylums into the United States of America."

The New York Post noted:
The gangs Tren de Aragua and Cartel de Los Soles, which have been responsible for robberies, drug trafficking and sexual exploitation across the US, both arrived with the latest wave of Venezuelan refugees.
Maduro has been in power since 2013, and in recent years, has rigged at least two elections that many observers say he otherwise lost badly.
Social media reacts
Users across social media weighed in on Trump's comments on taking out Maduro and bringing some semblence of justice and safety to the region.
"With God's grace, Trump's efforts will bring down Nicolás Maduro, Petro's narco-dictator partner, sooner rather than later," one X user wrote.
Another X user wrote, "Amen. May God protect their mission. May they be efficient in neutralizing the culprits and may we be free by Christmas."
It'll be interesting to see how the Trump administration removes Maduro from power.
