Congressman files articles of impeachment against anti-Trump Judge James Boasberg
U.S. District Judge James Boasberg has long been a foe of President Donald Trump and even threatened to hold members of his administration in contempt.
Yet Trump may get the last laugh as one member of Congress recently hit Boasberg with articles of impeachment.
Impeachment articles tied to "Arctic Frost" probe
According to Fox News, that move was made on Tuesday by Texas Republican Rep. Brandon Gill over the judge's role in the "Arctic Frost" probe undertaken by former Special Counsel Jack Smith.
The Senate Judiciary Committee released material last month showing how members of Smith's Arctic Frost team obtained phone records of Republican lawmakers.
They were South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham, Tennessee Sen. Marsha Blackburn, Wisconsin Sen. Ron Johnson, Missouri Sen. Josh Hawley, Wyoming Sen. Cynthia Lummis, Tennessee Sen. Bill Hagerty, Alaska Sen. Dan Sullivan, and Alabama Sen. Tommy Tuberville, along with Pennsylvania Rep. Mike Kelly.
The telephone communications in question took place in the days immediately preceding and following the January 6, 2021 riot on Capitol Hill.
Gill accuses Boasbert of "shamelessly weaponizing his power"
Gill told Fox News that "Chief Judge Boasberg has compromised the impartiality of the judiciary and created a constitutional crisis."
"He is shamelessly weaponizing his power against his political opponents, including Republican members of Congress who are faithfully serving the American people within their jurisdiction," the Texas representative alleged.
"Judge Boasberg was an accomplice in the egregious Arctic Frost scandal where he equipped the Biden DOJ to spy on Republican senators," Gill continued.
"His lack of integrity makes him clearly unfit for the gavel. I am proud to once again introduce articles of impeachment against Judge Boasberg to hold him accountable for his high crimes and misdemeanors," the congressman added.
Ted Cruz says Arctic Frost was "worse than Watergate"
Gill's articles of impeachment assert that Boasberg ignored "his responsibility to wield the power of his office in a constitutional manner" by granting "authorization to issue frivolous nondisclosure orders in furtherance of the Federal Bureau of Investigation project codenamed ARCTIC FROST."
"These nondisclosure orders covered Members of Congress who were acting in accord with their legislative duties and privileges guaranteed by Article 1, Section 6, Clause 1 of the U.S. Constitution," the impeachment documents declare.
“Both the subpoenas and gag orders were signed by U.S. District Judge James Boasberg […] a detail that prompted fresh criticism and indignation from some of the Republicans in question, including Cruz, who blasted the investigation in question as ‘worse than Watergate’ and a…

Fox News noted how Gill is not alone in going after Boasberg, as Republican Texas Sen. Ted Cruz has as well, complaining that Arctic Frost was "worse than Watergate."
