Fox Sports has made the decision to fire Mark Sanchez.

Mediaite reported the news on Friday.

This comes after Sanchez's recent arrest.

He's out

Mediaite receive the news of Sanchez's firing from a Fox Sports spokesperson.

The outlet reports:

“We can confirm that Mark Sanchez is no longer with the network," a Fox Sports spokesperson said Friday. "There will be no further comment at this time.”

Thus far, it does not appear as though Sanchez is providing further comment on the matter either.

However, Sanchez's brother, according to TMZ, has.

Nick Sanchez said:

It's been a long month for Mark as he continues to recover from serious injuries while also grieving the loss of a close friend. While the recent news — and its timing — is understandably disappointing, our priority remains his continued healing and recovery. Mark deeply values his time at FOX and the exceptional colleagues he’s had the privilege to work with. Those relationships are meaningful and will endure.

Background

Sanchez was arrested last month.

Breitbart News reported:

Sanchez, who played in the NFL for 10 seasons and spent the most time with the New York Jets, was arrested after an October 4 altercation with a local truck driver who picked up used cooking oil in the early morning hours as the city prepared for the day. The ex-quarterback and Fox Sports broadcaster was hit with a felony battery charge and three misdemeanor charges.

That's not all.

The outlet continues:

He also faces a civil suit from Perry Tole, the 69-year-old truck driver Sanchez allegedly assaulted. If convicted, Sanchez could spend up to six years in prison, WRTV-TV reported. Sanchez was stabbed several times during the October 4 incident and was admitted to an Indianapolis hospital to treat the wounds. Surveillance video of the streets around the incident site shows Sanchez wandering back and forth in the same area several times. The video also shows a bloodied Sanchez running away from the scene of the attack before he is seen once again wandering on the sidewalk. Eventually, the police arrive on the scene and take Sanchez off to Eskenazi Hospital to treat his wounds.

For some time now, there has been speculation about whether or not Fox would hold on to Sanchez. We now have the answer.
