Trump will boycott this month's G20 Summit in Johannesburg, South Africa
The world leaders are scheduled to assemble in Johannesburg, South Africa later this month for the annual Group of 20 (G20) Summit.
President Donald Trump won't be among them, however, as he announced this week that America will withdraw from the event.
Trump highlights South Africa's persecution of its white Afrikaner minority
According to The Hill, Trump's announcement came in the form of a post made to his Truth Social platform late on Friday afternoon.
The president explained that his decision to avoid the summit was linked to South Africa's treatment of its minority Afrikaner population.
"Afrikaners (People who are descended from Dutch settlers, and also French and German immigrants) are being killed and slaughtered, and their land and farms are being illegally confiscated," Trump stated.
"No U.S. Government Official will attend as long as these Human Rights abuses continue. I look forward to hosting the 2026 G20 in Miami, Florida!" he declared.
Secretary of state: "My job is to advance America’s national interests"
The Hill noted how Secretary of State Marco Rubio released a similar message on X in February, writing, "South Africa is doing very bad things. Expropriating private property. Using G20 to promote 'solidarity, equality, [and] sustainability.'"
"In other words: DEI and climate change. My job is to advance America’s national interests, not waste taxpayer money or coddle anti-Americanism," Rubio added.
Rubio's words came after Trump signed an executive order which paused foreign assistance to South Africa and allowed Afrikaners to settled in the United States as refugees.
Head of South African's third largest party told supporters to kill white people
This past August saw Julius Malema, the leader of South Africa's third-largest political party, convicted of engaging in hate speech after encouraging his supporters to white people.
Malema is notorious for hosting massive rallies during which he leads attendees in chants of "Kill the Boer," a term which refers to white South Africans.

Meanwhile, the National Pulse reported that South African farmer murders rose by 167% in the final quarter of last year, with one 79-year-old man being beaten with a pipe and then having his throat slit.
