Eric Trump offers insight into Barron Trump's viral inauguration day exchange with Biden
The 2024 presidential election cycle was full of unexpected twists, turns, and memorable moments, but it was an encounter at Donald Trump’s second inauguration in January of this year that continues to stir speculation.
Observers the world over wondered what was said during a face-to-face moment between first son Barron Trump and outgoing President Joe Biden and whether it was heated in nature, but Eric Trump, another of the president’s children, has just come forward to reveal the truth, as the New York Post reports.
Viral encounter spurs online speculation
Amid the formality and grandeur of Donald Trump’s inauguration ceremony in the Capitol Rotunda, young Barron Trump took a moment to exchange a few words with his father’s predecessor in office.
Barron, then 19, approached Biden, shook his hand, and leaned in to be heard, uttering a sentence or two that left the online universe agog with curiosity.
While some suggested that the young Trump vowed to exact revenge for the Biden administration’s persecution of his father, or that he offered some sort of similarly antagonistic greeting.
Others, however, opined that such hostility would have been wholly out of character for the first son, who has long been described as unfailingly polite and mild-mannered.
Now, nearly a year after the fact, insider information has emerged, shedding light on what actually went down between Barron and Biden.
Eric Trump tells all
Nearly a year after the events in question, Eric Trump has finally provided direct insight on the controversy, doing so during an appearance in Miami with podcast host Megyn Kelly and saying, “One night I call Barron, and I go, ‘Buddy, what did you actually say?’”
Far from the sabre-rattling overture some in the Twitterverse predicted, Eric revealed that his half-brother’s actual words were “something so polite I almost wouldn’t even get it right.”
Barron said, according to Eric, “‘Congratulations, and best of luck to you,’ or something like that. Something very respectable.”
Eric Trump elaborated a bit on Barron’s impeccable manners, recalling a conversation in which podcaster Patrick Bet-David asked whether the teen really had dropped an f-bomb during his exchange with Biden.
Donald Trump’s middle son mused, "[Barron] just doesn’t have that in him. He’s probably thinking it, he definitely has it up here, but like he’s too courteous to actually go out there and say it.”
Future looks bright
The youngest of the president’s children is making his way in the world, attending classes at New York University’s satellite location in Washington D.C., after having spent his freshman year at the school’s Manhattan campus, as People noted earlier this year.
Though he continues to maintain a low profile for the most part, Barron’s famous father offered something of an update on his life during a recent episode of granddaughter Kai Trump’s vlog, declaring, “Good, he’s doing good. He’s a good boy. He loves you. He said, ‘Say hello to Kai, dad,’” offering a glimpse of the kindness and gentility the first son is reputed to possess.
