Since taking office in January, President Donald Trump has made renegotiating America's trade relationships a key part of his agenda.

That has apparently been a frustrating endeavor, with the president recently becoming hoarse after blowing up at representatives of a foreign government.

"I blew my stack at these people"

According to Breitbart, Trump revealed that information after being asked about his voice while speaking with reporters in the Oval Office on Monday.

"I was shouting at people because they were stupid about something having to do with trade and a country, and I straightened it out, but I blew my stack at these people," he explained.

Breitbart noted that one journalist asked which nation had upset him, Trump responded that "a country wanted to try and renegotiate the terms of their trade deal and I wasn’t happy about it."

When another reporter asked the president to name the country involved, he reacted with incredulity, saying, "Why would I say that to you? I can’t believe it."

Trump rolled back tariffs on some goods

The president's exchange came just days after he signed an executive order which "implemented necessary and appropriate" changes "to further modify the scope" of goods subject to reciprocal tariffs.

The Daily Caller noted how these items included "coffee and tea; tropical fruits and fruit juices; cocoa and spices; bananas, oranges, and tomatoes; beef; and additional fertilizers."

fact sheet released by the White House stated that this move "follows the significant progress the President has made in securing more reciprocal terms for our bilateral trade relationships."

"President Trump’s deals have had and will continue to have broad impacts on domestic production and the economy as a whole, including enhanced market access for our agriculture exporters," it insisted.

The document went on to stress how "many of the announced trade deals and ongoing negotiations involve countries that produce substantial volumes of agricultural products that are not grown or produced in sufficient quantities in the United States."

Food industry trade association welcomes change

The executive order was met with approval from a Food Industry Association (FMI) statement which read, "FMI is grateful and extremely pleased at President Trump’s actions to cut tariffs on a wide swathe of food and agriculture products."

"Today’s action should help consumers, whose morning cup of coffee will hopefully become more affordable, as well as U.S. manufacturers, which utilize many of these products in their supply chains and production lines," the document declared.

It concluded by asserting that "FMI wholeheartedly applauds President Trump’s efforts to provide swift tariff relief on certain food products to help ensure they remain as affordable as possible and accessible for American consumers."
