President Donald Trump continues to insist that U.S. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) is a "traitor."

Yet, according to the New York Postthe president also recently suggested that he would "love to see" Greene return to politics.

This all comes after a falling out between Trump and Greene, which has resulted in her decision to resign from Congress. It is a surprising turn of events given that Greene has been one of Trump's biggest supporters.

"Marjorie 'Traitor' Brown"

Trump released a message on social media, this past week, in which he, once again, referred to Greene as a "traitor."

The president wrote:

Marjorie “Traitor” Brown, because of PLUMMETING Poll Numbers, and not wanting to face a Primary Challenger with a strong Trump Endorsement (where she would have no chance of winning!), has decided to call it “quits.” Her relationship with the WORST Republican Congressman in decades, Tom Massie of Kentucky, also known as Rand Paul Jr. because he votes against the Republican Party (and really good legislation!), did not help her. For some reason, primarily that I refused to return her never ending barrage of phone calls, Marjorie went BAD. Nevertheless, I will always appreciate Marjorie, and thank her for her service to our Country! President DJT

This came after Greene revealed that she is resigning from congress, a resignation that will go into effect in January 2026.

Breitbart News reports:

Greene added in her announcement that her “only goal and desire has ever been to hold the Republican Party accountable for the promises it makes to the American people and put America First,” while adding that she has also fought against Democrat policies such as the Green New Deal, and “unsafe border policies.” “With that has brought years of nonstop never never-ending personal attacks, death threats, lawfare, ridiculous slander and lies about me, that most people could never withstand even for a day,” Greene continued, adding that she does not want her district to have to “endure a hurtful and hateful primary” against her by Trump.

Trump initially responded to the news, saying, "I think it’s great news for the country. It’s great."

Trump takes a u-turn?

After all of this harsh rhetoric by Trump against Greene, it came a surprise to many that Trump, during a recent interview, suggested that he would like to see Greene return to politics.

The Daily Mail reports:

During a brief NBC News interview on Saturday, the president was asked about the Republican lawmaker's future after she abruptly announced she would resign from Congress in early 2026 following their public split. Trump admitted that 'it's not going to be easy for her' to claw her way back into politics, but said, 'I'd love to see it,' noting that for now, 'she's got to take some rest.'

Trump was also asked whether the relationship between him and Greene could be mended.

He replied, "I can patch up differences with anyone."
