Usha Vance is addressing rumors of divorce after she was spotted in public without a wedding ring, People reported.

The second lady visited Camp Lejeune with First Lady Melania Trump last week to meet with military families. During the public outing, photos of Vance without her wedding ring went viral.

Usha Vance dismisses rumors

In a rare statement to People, Vance dismissed the divorce chatter and noted she is the mother of "three young children, who does a lot of dishes, gives lots of baths, and forgets her ring sometimes.”

Her husband, vice president, J.D. Vance, is widely seen as the heir apparent to President Trump and the Republican frontrunner for the 2028 presidential race.

His political position has made him a target of baseless smears, including viral rumors about a warm hug with Charlie Kirk's widow, Erika Kirk.

Interfaith marriage

Vance's interfaith marriage has also been a topic of controversy, although there are no signs that religion is a problem in the household.

The vice president caused outrage last month when shared his hope that his Hindu wife comes to accept the Gospel someday.

"Most Sundays, Usha will come with me to church. Do I hope, eventually, that she is somehow moved by the same thing that I was moved in by church? Yeah, honestly, I do wish that, because I believe in the Christian gospel and I hope eventually my wife comes to see it the same way. But if she doesn't, then God says everybody has free will and so that doesn't cause a problem for me," Vance said.

Usha was raised in the Hindu tradition, while Vance grew up Protestant and converted to Catholicism in his 30s.

Vance's rise makes him a target

Vance has noted that he believes in free will and has no desire to forcibly convert his spouse, but his frank profession of the Christian faith has caused backlash regardless.

"Yes, Christians have beliefs. And yes, those beliefs have many consequences, one of which is that we want to share them with other people. That is a completely normal thing, and anyone who's telling you otherwise has an agenda," Vance said.

Vance's wife has said she has no intention of becoming Catholic, and while their children are in Catholic school they are free to choose whether to be baptized in the church.

The vice president has said he and his wife were both "agnostic or atheist" when they met at Yale Law School before tying the knot in 2014. They have been together through a head-spinning journey, with Vance going from being a best-selling author to a potential future president.

Given that possibility, it is likely that Vance will be the target of many more attacks on his marriage and personal life.
