Trump questions DOJ's focus on Epstein with 1 million new documents
President Trump has thrown a sharp jab at the Justice Department, spotlighting their obsession with the Jeffrey Epstein case as a distraction from more pressing national concerns.
Trump voiced his frustration last Friday after the Justice Department revealed the discovery of over 1 million additional documents tied to the late financier’s controversial case, while also releasing an initial batch of hundreds of thousands of records.
Epstein Case Documents Keep Piling Up
Just last month, Congress passed a bipartisan bill, later signed into law by Trump, mandating the Justice Department to release all unclassified Epstein records to the public within a tight 30-day window.
The deadline for this release arrived last Friday, and while the department did roll out a significant number of documents, they’ve hinted that processing the newly found million-plus pages could take weeks more.
Some of these records mention both Trump and former President Clinton, fueling public curiosity but also raising questions about why the full story remains under wraps.
Trump Calls Out DOJ Priorities
Trump didn’t hold back, slamming the investigation as a politically motivated distraction. “Now 1,000,000 more pages on Epstein are found. DOJ is being forced to spend all of its time on this Democrat inspired Hoax,” he stated, as reported on Friday.
“When do they say NO MORE, and work on Election Fraud, etc.,” Trump added, pointing to what many conservatives see as a skewed focus by federal agencies.
His words cut to the chase—why is the Justice Department sinking time into a case tied to a figure long gone, while other urgent matters fester?
Lawmakers Push for Full Transparency
Lawmakers from both sides have expressed irritation with the Justice Department for dragging their feet on releasing all documents, with some questioning the heavy redactions made to protect victims.
These redactions, while understandable for privacy, leave gaps in the narrative, feeding into long-standing conspiracy theories that the government might be shielding influential figures.
For everyday Americans, especially retirees on fixed incomes, the lack of clarity only deepens distrust in institutions already seen as out of touch with Main Street struggles.
Conspiracy Theories and Public Frustration
The Epstein case has long been a lightning rod for speculation, with many believing powerful elites are being protected from scrutiny, a sentiment Trump has echoed in his criticism of his own supporters’ fixation on the issue.
Yet, as more documents trickle out in the days following the initial release, the public’s appetite for answers shows no sign of waning, even if Trump himself seems ready to move on. “The Radical Left doesn’t want people talking about TRUMP & REPUBLICAN SUCCESS, only a long ago dead Jeffrey Epstein – Just another Witch Hunt!!!” he declared on Friday.
