DANIEL VAUGHAN: CNN Accidentally Admits Trump Is Right On ICE And Minnesota

I've always wondered what being in front of television cameras lends itself to dumb takes. Normally rational people will spout off things any sane person would know are immediately false. But there's another dynamic, too: a dumb person accidentally making a smart point, and not recognizing it.

A few weeks ago, I quoted a brilliant point from the X account Millennial Woes: "It's amazing how much leftist discourse is just them pretending not to understand things, thus making discourse impossible."

CNN proves this point perfectly. On an evening panel, Ana Navarro was on the set to talk about ICE, immigration, and what is happening in Minnesota. She accidentally made a significant and telling point. She said:

"I spoke to a police chief, a very experienced, respected police chief today. And I asked him, could ICE be at the county jail, because the state prisons we all agree is doing, is putting a detainer, is handing them over to ICE. Could ICE agents be at the door of the county jail? And when an undocumented immigrant has served their time or is released, could they grab him? Yes, there's nothing stopping them from doing that," Navarro said.

New York City Council Republican leader Joe Borelli all but threw up his hands and exclaimed, "That's what a detainer is ... That's what we're talking about."

Undeterred, Navarro continued:

"The names of the people who are detained in a county jail are public information," Navarro said. "Anybody in the media can get them. Any of us can get those names. So they could run those names, know who is here illegally, if there's anybody illegally, know when their sentence is up. And yes, you know what? It would be a lot less costly to the businesses in Minneapolis, to the city of Minneapolis, to us as taxpayers if they put two ICE agents at the door of the county jail than if they have 3,000 agents terrorizing and occupying an American city."

Borelli again pointed out the obvious: that's precisely what an ICE detainer is.

He's right. Navarro accidentally made the point every conservative within 100 miles of this topic keeps pointing out: Sanctuary cities - like Minneapolis and St. Paul - are refusing to cooperate with ICE or any immigration authority.

That means, when they find out they need to deport a criminal, these blue cities are releasing the criminal back into society. It is, to any sane person, fundamentally insane to do what Democrats are doing.

In turn, ICE and CBP have to track down a person to be arrested and deported. Democrats are doing everything in their power to prevent this simple fact from occurring.

ICE was founded in 2003. George W. Bush, Barack Obama, and Joe Biden all got cooperation in these cities to run simple deportations. No one balked at the concept.

However, they have thrown up every roadblock to Donald Trump to do the same thing. The issues we're witnessing in these major cities, over immigration law enforcement, could end tomorrow if Democratic-run sanctuary cities honor ICE detentions.

It is quite literally that simple. This is not a confusing or complicated subject.

The next thing that is happening, radical leftists overruning Democrat-run cities, comes down to law enforcement. Jacob Frey in Minneapolis is choosing to side with the mob over law enforcement.

The response to that is pretty straightforward to track, too: Gun shop owners are reporting an uptick in business from people seeking to protect themselves from the mob. The New York Post interviewed a guy who was seeing an uptick in business on exactly that front.

It's an utterly predictable outcome when the law collapses, and politicians side with an anarchic mob. Democrats in Minnesota are siding with literal criminals who do not belong in the United States, and against the Americans living in their own cities.

It's no different than the ad where Donald Trump pointed out that Kamala Harris wanted to spend taxpayer dollars on trans surgeries for illegals in prison. It was such an astonishing thing to admit, but also entirely accurate. And Harris never had an answer for why she was for "they/them," but not for you.

And in front of everyone in America, Ana Navarro accidentally stated the truth for the first time in years. She agreed with Donald Trump and conservatives without even realizing it.

It's not hard to do, because if you actually research the topic and think it through critically, it's an easy conclusion to reach. And that's not a partisan point, saying conservatives or Trump are always right. But the right is correct on this point, and it doesn't take intense deep thought to realize that.

It takes intense, tortured logic to claim that releasing criminals on the streets, who need deportation, must be protected. That's the stance of the modern Democratic Party.

There's no other way to describe it: Democrats have lost their minds. Unfortunately, for those same Democrats, Ana Navarro accidentally spoke the truth.

" A free people [claim] their rights, as derived from the laws of nature."
Thomas Jefferson
