Australian model Sahara Ray, once linked to Justin Bieber, has died at 34 months after her first child's birth, her family said, with no cause disclosed.

Page Six reported that the Australian model, internet personality, and fashion designer died at 34, just months after welcoming her daughter.

Her family told TMZ she “passed away last night surrounded by family at the hospital.” They added a simple line that cut through the noise.

"She was so loved."

The cause of death has not been revealed. Page Six sought further comment from the family and did not receive one.

Sudden losses in entertainment circles keep landing hard on readers, much like coverage of Presley Gerber’s death at 27 that shocked the same audience.

Ray’s public life mixed modeling, design, and a very online following. Her private life drew more attention after high-profile romances and a serious health scare.

Bieber link, a later romance, then motherhood

In 2016 she was romantically linked to Justin Bieber. Reports at the time placed the pair vacationing in Hawaii, including skinny-dipping sightings that fed tabloid coverage for weeks.

In 2023 she was linked to musician Mod Sun after the two were seen locking lips in a social media post.

Those headlines faded. What remained was her push into motherhood. She is the daughter of surfer Tony Ray, and she made no secret of how much the baby meant to her.

Families hit by abrupt tragedy often speak in the same plain language of love and loss, a note also struck when the Chad Lowe family mourned their daughter Fiona.

Ray went public with the birth timeline on Instagram. Ahead of delivery she posted that she was set for induction.

"Wish me luck. I get induced today at 8 p.m. So excited, so nervous."

She gave birth to daughter Snow in January. In April she introduced the newborn with a short video and the caption “Baby snow hallelujah,” set to Bieber’s 2025 track “Everything Hallelujah.”

In July came what reporting identified as her final Instagram post: a run of photos of the baby and the line “My whole heart 🤍 baby Snow.”

Car crash, paralysis, and a hard recovery

Before the baby news, Ray had already told followers about a brutal stretch of illness. After she was hit by a car, her body went into shock and she became extremely ill. In April 2024 she revealed a Guillain-Barré syndrome diagnosis.

The Mayo Clinic description cited in coverage calls it a condition in which the body’s immune system attacks the nerves and can cause weakness, numbness, or paralysis. Trauma such as a car crash can activate it.

Ray described the result in blunt terms on TikTok after the crash.

"Right now I’m paralyzed from the tops of my upper thighs all the way down to my feet. I can’t walk at all."

She said she was briefly wheelchair-bound. Reporting has not tied that earlier illness to the cause of her death. As of the family statement, no medical examiner finding has been made public.

Entertainment passings keep arriving without much warning, from steel guitar legend Tommy Detamore’s sudden death at 70 to younger names still building careers.

Friend Becky Hearn mourned Ray on Instagram with throwback photos and a direct tribute.

Hearn called her “Sahara, a pure one with a very big heart,” and wrote, “My heart is broken for you and your family. Rest in peace.”

High-profile death notices move fast in national feeds, whether the subject is a model in her thirties or a longtime public official such as former Rep. Kay Granger, who died at 83.

What is known remains narrow and human. A 34-year-old mother died in a hospital with family present. She left behind an infant daughter she had only just begun to introduce to the world. The medical file is still closed to the public.

Fame writes the first headline. Family is what remains when the cameras leave.
