DANIEL VAUGHAN: Biden Turns His Back On Israel

 May 6, 2024

For the last two years, we've listened to the White House blast any attempts to question the money pouring into Ukraine as kowtowing to Putin. In the latest State of the Union address, President Biden blasted Republicans, saying, "Assistance for Ukraine is being blocked by those who want us to walk away from our leadership in the world." He demanded legislation on that front (which he received). Biden didn't stop there, saying, "History is watching. If the United States walks away now, it will put Ukraine at risk. Europe at risk. The free world at risk, emboldening others who wish to do us harm."

If that's the truth, why is President Biden now walking away from Israel? Why is he leaving the world at risk from those seeking harm to the United States? Axios reports, "The Biden administration last week put a hold on a shipment of U.S.-made ammunition to Israel." It was unclear why this shift occurred on the Israeli side: "The incident raised serious concerns inside the Israeli government and sent officials scrambling to understand why the shipment was held."

According to the rhetoric from the White House, this new policy position from Biden constitutes shirking global responsibility. Biden is trying to pull Israel away from attacking a terrorist group responsible for murdering thousands, including American civilians. Hamas released a hostage video from one of those Americans just two weeks ago. Congress approved aid to Ukraine and Israel, but the country Biden is pulling support from is Israel.

When Donald Trump froze aid to Ukraine ahead of the first Trump impeachment, Democrats argued the White House violated the impoundment act, which was a good enough reason to impeach Trump. What is the Biden administration doing in this case? Will we get breathless coverage of the Biden administration halting the ability of Israel to win a war? Or is the Biden administration preventing aid from getting to Palestinians?

There's been a lot of anger thrown at Israel over access to Palestinian aid. There's been less anger at Hamas, who is actively attacking areas where assistance is entering. Take the Kerem Shalom crossing. CBS News reports, "Hamas militants attacked Israel's main crossing point for delivering humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip on Sunday."

The attack led to loss of life. "The attack on Israel's Kerem Shalom crossing killed three Israeli soldiers and wounded several others, three of whom were critically wounded, a spokesperson for the Israel Defense Forces said Sunday. The attack prompted officials to close the terminal, disrupting critical shipments of food and other humanitarian aid into Gaza."

That's not even the first time that's happened, nor the only location. Biden has built a pier in Gaza to deliver aid, one of his central policy goals. U.S. troops are on the ground there helping make the pier. Hamas and other terrorists are firing mortar shells at that pier, endangering everyone working on it and delaying aid.

U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin testified before the House that "U.S. forces helping to construct a floating humanitarian pier along the Gaza Strip's coast may return fire if attacked from the Hamas-run Palestinian enclave." This news shocked the House because Biden said in his State of the Union that U.S. troops were not endangered or on the ground. The very opposite of that is true.

That brings us back to Biden. He's the man in the center of everything. He's opposing Israel and, by his own definition of things with Ukraine, trying to prevent Israeli victory over a terrorist group that killed and took Americans hostage and is actively firing on U.S. troops. He's not doing this because it is morally correct or anything else. It's because Biden is afraid of losing the election. Like the university administrators being forced to deal with radical anti-Israel protesters, Biden is bowing to pressure.

We're watching a White House dictate foreign policy on the grounds that it may help him win an election. Meanwhile, America and her allies are endangered by this fecklessness. Biden said of Ukraine, "The free world at risk, emboldening others who wish to do us harm." He is emboldening Hamas, Iran, and all the other terrorist proxies to attack Israel, Americans, and our allies.

Biden needs to release the ammunition and stop preventing Israel from winning a war. American lives are literally at stake - people are being held hostage. American troops are endangered. Stop catering to the whims of moron college students and their paid-off organizers, and do what it takes to end Hamas.
