In major cities across America, we're getting a contrast in visions between Democrats and Republicans. Donald Trump is pushing a law-and-order vision. On the flip side, Democrats are siding with criminals. That sounds overly simplistic, but the division is there, both in what each side cares about and what they're covering.

A trial that captured the public imagination on this point was the trial of Daniel Penny in New York City. Liberal prosecutors charged him with manslaughter for killing a man who was attacking others in a subway. The left lost its mind when the jury sided with Penny's defense team.

The Penny story illustrates what the left does when someone intervenes to prevent violence or crime. They bring the state down on that person and attempt to use state power to ruin their life. Penny, an American standing up for others, is beyond the pale.

The flip side of this coin is what happened in Charlotte, North Carolina. There, on public transit, a young woman named Iryna Zarutska, 23, was brutally stabbed to death on a train. Her murderer did it in broad daylight, had a rap sheet going back to 2007, including violent assault, and multiple decisions by prosecutors to drop charges and let him free.

No one came to her aid. Everyone was shocked. The video of the event, which unfortunately went viral, shows the man sitting behind her and rising up and stabbing Zarutska in cold blood. He left a trail of blood behind.

Iryna Zarutska was a Ukrainian refugee fleeing the war in Ukraine. She came to the United States for safety in 2022. In short, she was here legally and was still failed by a justice system in a blue city in a state run by a Democratic governor. They refused to hold criminals accountable, and now a refugee is dead.

Many liberals reading this piece are finding out about this death for the first time because the sites they use didn't cover it. The Daily Mail noted over the weekend, "However, the shocking story is notably absent from US liberal media sites, including The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, the Associated Press and CNN."

This refusal to cover a story despite its going viral because of the brutal and gruesome video that everyone was sharing. Millions of people saw this woman's final moments, and it's impossible to move Democrats to care. This is similar to what happened during the Biden administration during the death of Laken Riley.

That case featured the death of a woman murdered by an illegal alien, let in by Biden's open borders policies. Every time Trump takes an action, Democrats take to the airwaves to gravely tell everyone who will listen that Trump is killing people - yet when Americans and refugees are murdered under Democratic supervision, they stop caring.

Emblematic of this is Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker. He gave an interview where he was asked about violence in Chicago, where 54 people were shot, and seven were killed in a single holiday weekend. When asked how he could tell people it was safe to ride public transit in the city, he pivoted to Trump. He had no answer.

If a mass shooting event took place in any other city in America with those numbers, we'd hear a steady drumbeat of the need for "gun control." But when people are murdered in broad daylight in Chicago, D.C., New York, and elsewhere, Democrats shrug their shoulders. Everyone is expected to deal with it.

It's the same mindset they had on illegal immigration. When Biden had millions of people pouring across the border, he claimed the only way to fix it was via Congress. Trump takes office and starts enforcing the laws, and there's an overnight difference. The solutions here are only rocket science if you're in the Democratic Party.

Trump sends the National Guard into D.C., and murders and violent crimes plummet. The takeaway is simple: take responsibility and enforce the law. Democrats do not care if criminals walk free. That is the lesson from the pandemic to now.

When it was time to fire people over vaccines, they were fine using the power of the state to kick people out of jobs. However, when basic crime control is at stake, they refuse to lift a finger. It's no wonder Donald Trump is president again and running roughshod over a morally bankrupt party.

All Donald Trump is saying is to enforce the law. The entire 2024 election got boiled down to them siding with "they/them" over Americans. As murders pile up in major cities run by Democrats, that message is still valid—Democrats side with literal criminals over Americans.

Americans are pleading with Democrats to address simple issues. Everyone knows they'll be in charge again one day. If that happens, the expectation is simple: an explosion of crime and illegal immigration as we experienced with Biden.

That's the promise of the Democratic Party - chaos and criminal disorder. I don't know a group of voters that accepts that long-term in any country on earth.

Democrats are screaming for gun control, attacking people like Daniel Penny, and refusing to acknowledge murders on public transportation. This is an untenable worldview, to put it mildly. Put more sharply: Democrats are siding with criminals against Americans.
