DANIEL VAUGHAN: Trump Needs To Drop Hammer On Hamas

It didn't get a significant focus during the State of the Union. Still, the day after, Donald Trump's Middle East policy stormed back to the forefront. In another seismic post, Trump put pressure on Hamas, Israel, and the Arab countries to find peace and settle everything.

Trump issued another ultimatum to Hamas. He started by saying, "'Shalom Hamas' means Hello and Goodbye - You can choose. Release all of the Hostages now, not later, and immediately return all of the dead bodies of the people you murdered, or it is OVER for you."

Trump's statement comes on the heels of three things. First, he talked to the hostages that Hamas held. Second, Hamas refused to negotiate in direct talks with the United States. And third, the Arab countries are refusing to respond to a potential United States takeover of Gaza.

On the first point, Trump has talked to freed hostages and heard their stories. What he's heard is awful. Hamas is mistreating everyone in its "care," and those surviving the ordeal barely did so.

Israel believes 24 hostages are still alive in Hamas care - 22 Israelis, one Thai, and one Nepali person. The remaining 35 people are presumed dead. "The group includes four active-duty soldiers and several people who had been working security at the Nova music festival, some of whom Hamas has claimed were soldiers as well."

However, there are normal people, too. "Several of the other hostages were also kidnapped from the Nova rave, where they had been partying before the early morning attack began. A number of others were kidnapped while sheltering in their kibbutz homes or trying to protect family members from the deadly massacre carried out by Hamas that day."

The Hamas monsters caring for hostages are also the same ones who killed the Bibas children with their bare hands. It's the same monsters who murdered and raped their way across Israel on October 7 - which is why it's understandable why neither Trump nor Israel is interested in keeping people in Hamas care.

That's why the last part of Trump's statement stands out. It's not aimed at Hamas - it's aimed at Palestinians. "Also, to the People of Gaza: A beautiful Future awaits, but not if you hold Hostages. If you do, you are DEAD! Make a SMART decision. RELEASE THE HOSTAGES NOW, OR THERE WILL BE HELL TO PAY LATER!"

The hostages have told many stories of being held in an average Palestinian's house, including being reduced to slaves. Trump is making demands of Hamas and the Palestinians, which is a new demand by any president.

It's also worth making and forcing those distinctions. It's time to lump the terrorists in with the sympathizers. If they want to die with Hamas, so be it.

The second thing that has impacted Trump's thinking is direct negotiations with Hamas. He's trying to end the conflict by talking with Hamas, which has angered Israel. The move hasn't mattered because Hamas refuses to accept any deal or negotiate in any form of good faith - which is something you'd expect from a death cult seeking to murder Jews.

As a result, Trump is threatening the lives of everyone involved, from Hamas down to the Palestinians supporting them. Hostages were kept in people's homes and in hospitals. Every demented story we've seen or heard about Hamas is true.

The last point is that Trump's plan to rebuild Gaza is getting blasted by Egpyt. After convening an emergency meeting, Egypt has declared supporting a Palestinian state while doing nothing about the armed terrorist groups running around.

Seth Mandel sums it up, "Egypt is calling Trump's bluff. Trump said, if you don't like his plan, come up with a better one. Egypt said, no. All of which reinforces what we already know: Egypt doesn't care what happens as long as it happens to someone else."

Egypt is trying to sabotage any solution and proclaiming anything Trump does as wrong. This is another area where Trump will have to establish what he wants to do and drive the Arab countries to the table.

He's already partially doing that. He asked Saudi Arabia for a $1 trillion investment in U.S. companies over the next four years. They've agreed. In combination with an expected expansion of the Abraham Accords, Saudi Arabia holds the key to actually solving this problem.

While Egypt and Hamas seek to protect the status quo, Donald Trump has the power to fix it. His latest demands may sound the same to some, but they have the power to reshape the entire region.

Hamas, Egypt, and the Palestinians want to keep a world where the murder of Jews is a standard thing. Trump can end that and stop the violence. He needs to enforce his demands and put more teeth behind them.
