John Cornyn says Kash Patel has the votes to be confirmed as FBI director
Many on the left have been vocal in their outrage over President-elect Donald Trump's nomination of Kash Patel as FBI director.
Yet in what would constitute a major victory for Trump, one lawmaker recently said that Patel has the votes to be confirmed.
Sen. John Cornyn: Patel "will be" FBI director
According to Just the News, that claim was put forward on Thursday by Texas Republican Sen. John Cornyn during an interview with conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt.
"People I know and who I trust speak well of him and I’m looking forward to meeting with him," said Cornyn, who serves on both the Senate Intelligence Committee and the Senate Judiciary Committee.

When Hewitt asked the Texas senator if he was sure that Patel would be confirmed, Cornyn was unequivocal in his answer, stating, "Yes, he will be."
Just the News noted how Cornyn is considered to be a prominent figure among the GOP Senate caucus' moderate wing, and his endorsement signals that Patel can expect support from that faction of the party.
National Police Association endorses Patel
Meanwhile, Fox News reported that the National Police Association (NPA) revealed on Friday that Patel has its endorsement to head America's top law enforcement agency.
"The law enforcement community knows that effective leadership at the FBI is essential for building public trust and enhancing coordination across all levels of policing," a statement from the agency read.
"Kash Patel's proven record of leadership, expertise in counterterrorism and intelligence, and ability to navigate complex legal and operational challenges make him the ideal candidate to restore faith in the FBI's mission and ensure it remains a steadfast ally to our nation's police forces," it stressed.
The organization went on to say it is "confident that under his stewardship, the FBI will thrive in its vital mission to protect and serve the American people."
Trump says Patel will help "end the growing crime epidemic"
Breitbart reported that when announcing Patel's nomination, Trump called him "a brilliant lawyer, investigator, and 'America First' fighter."
The president-elect also recalled how Patel "played a pivotal role in uncovering the Russia, Russia, Russia Hoax, standing as an advocate for truth, accountability, and the Constitution."
He pledged that under Patel's leadership, the "FBI will end the growing crime epidemic in America, dismantle the migrant criminal gangs, and stop the evil scourge of human and drug trafficking across the Border."
