Actor Wayne Northrop dies at the age of 77
Actor Wayne Northrop, known, among other things, for his role in Dynasty and Days of Our Lives, has died at the age of 77.
Deadline reports that the news of Northrop's passing was released by his publicist, Cynthia Snyder.
The details
According to Snyder, Northrop died on Friday, Nov. 29, 2024, at the Motion Picture and Television Woodland Hills Home.
It has further been revealed, by Northrop's wife - actress Lynn Herring Northrop - that Northrop died after a struggle with Alzheimer's.
"Wayne was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer’s 6 years ago. He took his last breath in the arms of his family," she revealed.
She continued:
We wish to thank the most caring and amazing place, The Motion Picture and Television Home for taking such great care of him. Wayne touched so many people with his sense of humor and wit. A husband for 43 years, the best dad ever to his two boys, Hank and Grady, and a rancher who loved his cows and was a friend to many.
Who was Wayne Northrop?
The New York Post reports:
Northrop was born in Sumner, Washington on April 12, 1947. He earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Washington, and then took an acting class at Seattle Community College before moving to Los Angeles.
It was not long thereafter that Northrop made his appearance on the acting scene. The outlet reports that some of his earliest acting credits include appearances on Enough Is Enough, Baretta, and The Waltons.
Most people who are familiar with Northrop, though, probably know him from his time on Days of Our Lives.
Deadline recalls:
Wayne famously played tough, yet kind-hearted Detective Roman Brady on Days of Our Lives from 1981 to 1984, returning for a stint from 1991 to 1994. He returned once again as Dr. Alex North from 2005 to 2006, a medical school classmate of Roman’s wife Dr. Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall).

Northrop also appeared on the General Hospital spinoff “Port Charles” as Rex Stanton from 1997 to 1998. His other most famous role was as Michael Culhane in “Dynasty.” He starred on the ABC soap opera from 1981 to 1987.
There were many other shows that Northrop appeared on over the years, including L.A. Firefighters, Cold Case, Never Say Never: The Deidre Hall Story, and many more.
Northrop had been married to his wife for over forty years - since 1981 - at the time of his passing.
