Famed television actress Shannen Doherty has spent much of the past decade fighting a well-publicized battle with cancer. However, her health isn't the only personal problem Doherty has had to contend with.

The Hollywood star recently announced that she only learned of her husband Kurt Iswarienko's two-year-long affair just before undergoing surgery.

"I didn’t think I was going to make it"

According to Entertainment Weekly, Doherty made the admission during a recent episode of her podcast, saying, "I had brain surgery, which was the most frightening thing I have ever been through in my entire life."

"I didn’t think I was going to make it. I was positive that I was gonna die, and the best-case scenario in my head if I didn’t die was that I would lose the ability to walk or to talk," she recalled.

"I went into that surgery early in the morning, and I went in after I found out that my marriage was essentially over, that my husband had been carrying on an affair for two years," the actress remarked.

"I couldn't go into that surgery with him there"

Doherty explained that she had her family and close friends accompany her to the procedure rather than her husband, saying, "I couldn't go into that surgery with him there. I felt so betrayed."

"At the end of the day, I just felt so incredibly unloved by someone I was with for 14 years, by someone I loved with all my heart," she declared.

Doherty said that the operation was followed by "a couple rounds of brain radiation" before undergoing a "version of chemo."

The celebrity indicated that she was both "trying to figure out if you’re going to get a freaking divorce and trying to get the truth of that too."

Doherty says cancer has strengthened her faith

Doherty discussed her condition with People magazine in a video interview last month, saying, "I’m not done with living."

"I’m not done with loving. I’m not done with creating. I’m not done with hopefully changing things for the better. I’m just not — I’m not done," she stressed.

The actress also said that her faith has been strengthened, stating, "I pray. I wake up and go to bed thanking God, praying for the things that matter to me without asking for too much.
