Miles' attorney, Mary Turner, released a statement following the indictment.
"While we are not surprised by the indictment based on the reality that a person accused of a crime is not allowed to present any evidence to the Grand Jury, we are nonetheless disappointed that the Government presented this case to the Grand Jury as Capital Murder considering the evidence uncovered during our investigation and the obvious weaknesses in the Government's case brought to light during the preliminary hearing," Turner said.

Davis' attorney John Robbins also released a statement after the indictment was announced.
"This is the first time that I received a call from ESPN to inform me that my client has been indicted by the Grand Jury on capital murder charges. I am not surprised by the indictment. We, myself, Michael and his family, were expecting it," Robbins said. "I look forward to the opportunity to vigorously defend Michael at trial and to defend his right to protect himself when somebody points a gun at him and shoots him. We still hold Ms. Harris and her family in our prayers."

Both men were reportedly at the Twelve25 bar on the Strip in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, on Jan. 14. An altercation occurred at their vehicle as they were leaving.
Davis reportedly walked to the vehicle after getting a gun from the vehicle. It is unclear who fired first according to the report, with one of the shots fired by Davis killing Harris who was in the passenger seat.
