Many voters were taken aback earlier this year by the degree of fatigue and confusion which President Joe Biden exhibited during his only televised debate with President-elect Donald Trump.

However, left-leaning attorney Alan Dershowitz recently alleged that Democrats knew all about Biden's condition and yet chose to hide it from the public.

Voters were "lied to" about Biden's capacity

According to Breitbart, Dershowitz made the accusation during an appearance this past Friday on Newsmax TV's "Newsline."

"I think it's a terrible thing when we lack transparency and permit the American people to be lied to about the capacity of an American president," he was quoted as saying.

However, Dershowitz alleged that "the same thing happened with Ronald Reagan," adding that Republicans hid the 40th president's "diminished capacity at the end of his second term."

"So, let’s condemn both sides for trying to prevent the public from knowing the whole truth," the former Harvard Law School professor asserted.

Dershowitz denies that Trump is in decline

Dershowitz also came to the defense of the man who defeated Biden last month, saying, "Look, there are people lying about Donald Trump."

"A lot of Democrats are out there saying, 'Oh, he's really too old.' I spent some time with him the other night, and he’s at the top of his game," Dershowitz insisted.

"This is a common ploy to attack leaders based on their capacity. Fortunately, the American public has the ability, generally, to judge the capacity of our leaders," the legal expert declared.

"Trump [held a press] conference and anybody who saw the press conference would know he's absolutely at the top of his game," Dershowitz went on to assert.

Staff say Biden is unable to conduct meetings on "bad days"

Dershowitz comments came days after the Wall Street Journal published an article last week which was based on interviews with former and current White House staff members as well as Capitol Hill lawmakers.

One unnamed source explained how a national security meeting once had to be rescheduled as the president was unable to function.

"He has good days and bad days, and today was a bad day so we’re going to address this tomorrow," the source recalled a national security official saying of the president.
