American Spectator points out 'Lady Luck' has blessed Trump with the 'best enemies'

A new think piece by the American Spectator pointed out over the weekend that while former President Donald Trump may be quite "hapless" because of a lost re-election in 2020 and four criminal indictments, he is also "blessed" to have enemies that seem to be shooting themselves in the foot on a daily basis.

"As we are seeing unfold across the country in real time, Trump is truly blessed with the best enemies. For all of Trump’s bad luck, he is also aided right now by some very, very good luck," Josh Hammer pointed out.

His likely presidential opponent

President Joe Biden has been floundering almost since he took office due to a combination of probable dementia and really bad policies. His approval ratings took a dive within months of taking office when his pullout from Afghantistan literally exploded in his face, and it's been downhill from there.

Now, he has to face a special counsel report that confirms all of the public's worst fears about his cognitive abilities on top of a strongly-disliked vice president who people do not think has what it takes to lead the country if he can't.

It should be a walk in the park to beat Biden, if he can stay out of his own way.

His last primary opponent

Former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley seemed like a good alternative to Trump at first, but she has turned into a RINO establishment type (think Romney, Dole or McCain, all presidential losers).

It's looking like she will lose even her own home state next week, and she really has no chance after that to win the nomination or do anything else than be a foil to Trump as he cruises to the nomination.

The Never-Trumpers who hope that somehow it will be anyone other than him on the ballot in November are still giving her money, but pretty much everyone knows it's a lost cause at this point even if they aren't admitting it.

His worst legal opponent

Then there's Fulton County, Georgia District Attorney Fani Willis.

Not only did Willis apparently engage in an extramarital affair, then hire her lover to work on the case against Trump, but she also lied about it multiple times and then melted down on the stand when questioned about it.

She has certainly delayed the case so that a verdict will not come before the election, and may also end up disqualifying herself from the whole thing and causing it to start over, if they even decide to keep going.

Fickle mistress

It all adds up to very good luck indeed for Trump, but Lady Luck is a fickle mistress. It wouldn't take much for Trump's luck to change and with it the entire dynamic of the election.

One thing that could happen is that they replace Biden with a younger, stronger, and newer candidate who gets the Democrat base fired up and wins some ground with independents. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) has suggested that Michelle Obama could be this candidate, and she would be hard to beat.

Polls also suggest that if Trump does get convicted of any of the criminal charges against him before the election, it could cause enough voters to rethink voting for him to cost him the election, even against a weak candidate like Biden. There are still many months until the election, and anything can happen.
