Noem relocates within DC amid rumors of personal entanglement with Lewandowski

A recent move by Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, paired with rumors of a long-running scandal, threatens to explode into a new controversy for the senior Trump administration official.

Noem recently moved from a private residence she rents in an upscale Washington D.C., neighborhood to special quarters on a nearby military base, as the Daily Mail reports.

Per a DHS spokesperson, the altered living arrangements are due to increased security threats against the secretary, but anonymous sources suggest it is an attempt to keep secret a rumored years-long extramarital affair with longtime "advisor" Corey Lewandowski.

Noem moves to military base

When Noem relocated from South Dakota to D.C. over the winter to begin serving as the head of DHS in President Donald Trump's administration, she moved into a $3,750 per month condo overlooking the Anacostia River in the capital city's Navy Yard neighborhood, according to the Daily Mail.

Now, however, she is reportedly residing a few miles away in the U.S. Coast Guard Commandant's quarters at Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling, officially due to heightened security concerns.

There is likely at least some legitimacy to that stated reason for Noem's move, as Democrats, leftist activists, and the media have worked overtime to demonize her as the face of President Trump's policy of strict enforcement of immigration laws.

Further, her private Navy Yard residence, for which she is reportedly still paying rent, was publicly exposed by the Daily Mail in April in a report about her alleged affair with the former Trump advisor, Lewandowski.

Security concerns cited amid move

In a statement to the Daily Mail, DHS spokeswoman Tricia McLaughlin said, "Following the Daily Mail's publication of where Secretary Noem lives, including photos, she has faced an increase in threats against her, as well as extensive doxing."

"Her security detail had to be increased, particularly the security footprint outside of her living quarters," for which she still maintains the lease, the spokeswoman continued.

"Secretary Noem continues to pay rent at her Navy Yard residence and has sought temporary living with greater security as threats have continued to increase against her as she leads DHS law enforcement, who are facing an 830% increase in assaults against them," McLaughlin added. "It's a shame that Daily Mail chooses sensationalism over the safety of people."

Rumors of years-long affair persist

To be sure, all of that may be true, but the Daily Mail cited multiple unnamed inside sources as suggesting that another major reason for Noem's m0ve was to prevent further public exposure of her rumored years-long affair with Lewandowski, who serves as an unofficial "advisor" and conveniently rents an apartment just across the street from her Navy Yard condo.

In 2023, both the New York Post and the South Dakota Standard published detailed reports on the alleged on-again, off-again tryst between then-Gov. Noem and Lewandowski, both of whom are separately married with children, an entanglement that may date back to at least 2019, and which has been somewhat of an "open secret" in Republican circles for years.

More recently, anonymous sources informed the Daily Mail that Lewandowski, who has been dubbed the secretary's "de facto chief of staff," has frequently been spotted coming and going from Noem's Navy Yard residence.

One unnamed administration official told the outlet of Noem's new living arrangements, "She wanted to move so photographers couldn't be on site and show what's going on, so she and Corey could be more private," and added, "They are connected at the hip. After the story broke, it caused a little bit of a rabbit jump."
