The final words uttered by singer Amy Winehouse before she passed away have been revealed.

This comes from the Daily and Sunday Express.

According to the outlet, "Amy Winehouse, who tragically passed away in 2011 from alcohol poisoning, made a haunting admission to her doctor just hours before her death."

Before we get to that, we will take a look at Winehouse's passing.

Background

At the time, according to Today, Winehouse was only 27 years old. In fact, she was only a couple of months away from turning 28 years old.

Today reports:

Amy Winehouse died of accidental alcohol poisoning, according to NBC News reporting. A coroner determined that the singer “died as a result of alcohol toxicity” and had a blood alcohol level that was five times the legal driving limit.

A big question, at the time, was whether there was anything suspicious that may have led to Winehouse's death. But, the answer was determined by the coroner to be no.

"Coroner Shirley Radcliffe ruled out any possibility of a suspicious death and said the singer 'voluntarily consumed alcohol — a deliberate act that took an unexpected turn and led to her death,'" Today writes.

It adds, "Pathologist Michael Sheaff, who was involved in the death inquest, told officials that Winehouse most likely experienced a respiratory arrest as a result of her drinking."

The latest

We now know more details about the days that led up to Winehouse's passing - including the singer's last conversation.

"The evening before her fatal drinking spree, Amy was visited by her doctor, Christina Romete, who recounted her conversation with the singer during that visit," the Express reports.

The outlet continues:

She revealed that Amy, who would have been 40 today (September 10) had confessed to relapsing into drinking after a significant period of sobriety. In their final conversation, Amy acknowledged the gravity of her situation as she confessed: "I don't want to die".

It does appear that Winehouse attempted to take steps to get away from the alcohol so that she would not die. Dr. Romete, for example, revealed that Winehouse had been taking Librium, which is a medication that helps with the symptoms that result from alcohol withdrawal. Winehouse, however, refused to get help from a psychiatrist, according to Romete.

Unfortunately, we know now that Winehouse was unable to get past her addiction and that this is what ended up leading to her death. It is a sad situation, but also one that many can learn from.
