As a former chairman of the House Freedom Caucus, Arizona Republican Rep. Andy Biggs has often drawn attention for his conservative stances.
However, the congressman made headlines for tragic reasons last week after his daughter's death left him in mourning.

According to Newsmax, the 66-year-old revealed in an X post on Friday that his daughter Cossette had "lost her battle with cancer.
While Biggs acknowledged that he and members of his family "are devastated by her passing," he added that they "take comfort knowing she is at peace with the Lord."

"We are grateful our family could gather together to spend her final days by her side," the long-time Arizona lawmaker stressed.
"Thank you to everyone for your thoughts, prayers, and support," Biggs noted before adding that he was "humbled by this great community and the outpouring of love for Cosette and our family."
Social media users post words of support for the Biggs family
Biggs' announcement was met with words of condolences from other social media users, including Arizona's Pinal County Attorney Brad Miller.
Miller posted a Greek Orthodox funeral prayer, writing, "Give rest, O God, unto Your servant, and appoint for her a place in Paradise; where the choirs of the Saints will shine forth like stars; to Your servant that is sleeping now please give her rest..."
Former race car driver and Washington Republican congressional candidate Jerrod Sessler spoke up as well, stating, "Heartbreaking for you my friend."
"No words other than pointing to Jesus as you've already indicated. Praying for you and your family," Sessler went on to add.
Cossette Biggs-Finerd leaves behind three young children
Support was not limited to conservatives, as Arizona Democratic Gov. Katie Hobbs recognized Biggs' loss in a social media post of her own.
"There is no greater loss than the loss of a child. I extend my deepest condolences to Representative Biggs and his entire family during this trying time," she wrote.
The Arizona Capitol Times reported that Cossette Biggs-Finerd was a 37-year-old woman who leaves behind a husband and three young children.
