Barron Trump falsely accused of mocking Ukraine Pres Zelenskyy in humorous social media post by fan account
Barron Trump, 18, the youngest of President Donald Trump's sons, generally keeps a low profile but still occasionally gets swept up in alleged scandals related to his father's presidency.
Most recently, Barron was accused of mocking Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on social media in the aftermath of that leader's disastrous White House meeting with President Trump, according to the Economic Times.
However, it was soon revealed that the post in question came not from the president's son but rather from a fan account devoted to sharing positive news about Barron and his father's presidency, among other things.
Zelenskyy cut off by Trump following White House argument
Last week, President Zelenskyy met with President Trump and Vice President JD Vance, among others, at the White House to discuss a supposed mineral rights deal with the U.S. that would serve as a first step toward a ceasefire and eventual peace to end Ukraine's years-long defense against a Russian invasion.
Unfortunately for Zelenskyy, his combative, "disrespectful," and entitled attitude, compounded by his demands for more military aid, security guarantees, and U.S. taxpayer dollars, didn't go over well with Trump or Vance and the meeting soon devolved into an argument and an abrupt end without the deal being signed.
Shortly thereafter, it was announced that Trump had ordered a pause to all further military and economic aid to Ukraine until Zelenskyy's attitude changed.
Joke post about Zelenskyy falsely attributed to Barron
That brings us to the supposedly controversial and scandalous X post from Barron Trump that purportedly mocked President Zelenskyy, and said with a laughing face emoji, "They don't call him Zelle-nsky for nothing."
The joke was almost certainly a reference to the Zelle app that allows people to easily send and receive money to and from others through their linked bank accounts, which was in turn almost certainly a reference to Zelenskyy's near-constant requests for additional U.S. taxpayer-funded economic and military support.
Some commenters understood the humorous nature of the post while others were offended, and more than a few lashed out against the president's youngest son for seemingly mocking a foreign leader embroiled in a devastating war against a bitter neighboring rival.
However, as the Economic Times noted, the account that made the controversial post isn't connected to or operated by Barron Trump at all, but rather is a fan page known as "Barron Trump News" that clearly states in its bio that it is not affiliated with the president's son.
Furthermore, Reuters reported last year that following another alleged scandalous post from the same "Barron Trump News" account, according to a spokesperson for first lady Melania Trump, "This account is not linked to Barron Trump, who currently maintains no active social media presence."
Don Jr., not Barron, has mocked Zelenskyy on social media
That said, while it has been shown that President Trump's youngest son Barron hasn't mocked President Zelenskyy, at least not on social media, the same cannot be said for the president's eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., who certainly takes after his father in terms of being a humorous social media troll on occasion.
Just after November's election, Politico reported that Don Jr. shared on Instagram a post with a picture of a disappointed Zelensky standing next to Trump at a press conference that was captioned, "POV [point of view]: You're 38 days from losing your allowance" -- a reference to Trump's oft-repeated campaign vow to end taxpayer-funded economic aid for Ukraine.
In another instance, which was initially also falsely attributed to Barron by foreign media outlets, Radio Free Asia reported that Don Jr. shared an Instagram post about Zelensky not being at Trump's Inauguration ceremony that said, "The funniest part is that he asked for an invite like three times unofficially, and each time got turned down. Now he’s acting like he decided not to go himself … what a weirdo."
