Beto O'Rourke backs Michigan progressives protesting Biden over Israel's war on Hamas
President Joe Biden, who's already struggling in the polls in virtually every swing state, has a real problem brewing in Michigan -- a state he desperate needs to win.
Progressive Democrats in the state are furious at his approach to the Israel-Hamas war, and they want him to call for an immediate ceasefire.
Given that the Biden administration hasn't signaled that they're willing to do that, there's an effort underway in Michigan by Democrats to mark "uncommitted" in the state's Democratic primary to pressure the president into calling for the ceasefire, and according to the Washington Examiner, former Texas Rep. Beto O'Rourke supports the movement.
Those behind the movement hope to scare Biden into changing his mind on the matter.
What did he say?
O'Rourke told a local media outlet believes the movement "makes sense" as an effort to pressure the Biden administration into changing its stance on the situation.
"I do think it makes sense for those who want to see this administration do more, or do a better job, to exert that political pressure and get the president’s attention and the attention of those on his campaign so that the United States does better," O'Rourke said.

"We should have a ceasefire, there should be a return of each [and] every single one of those hostages [taken by Hamas], there should be an end to this war, and there should be a negotiated solution to Palestinian statehood," O’Rourke said.
He added, "All of that needs to happen, and I share the concern that the United States is not doing close to enough to bring those things to pass."
O'Rourke visited Michigan over the weekend to promote his book.
Social media reacts
Many believe O'Rourke is inserting himself into the conversation outside of his home state in order to gain headlines, which conveniently line up with his latest book tour.
"From the guy that lost to both Abbot and Cruz...two of the most disliked politicians on the planet. Beto, your 15 minutes are up..." one X user wrote.
Another X user wrote, "This is exactly how trump got elected, the Bernie or Bust people. I'm really disappointed in Beto doing this."
Only time will tell if the movement gains enough traction needed for Biden's White House to consider changing its position.
