The details
“Our Presidential Dental Team from Walter Reed National Military Medical Center was able to perform an examination, to include x-rays, in the White House Dental Operatory. They determined that endodontic treatment (root canal) was most appropriate,” O’Connor wrote.
“Initial root canal procedure was performed at the time, with a plan for specialized endodontal follow up in the near future. The President tolerated the procedure well. There were no complications,” O’Connor added.

The impact
"The dental procedure appeared to be a last-minute decision, since Biden’s entire public schedule was either postponed or modified," the Daily Caller reported.
"Biden was scheduled to deliver remarks celebrating the men’s and women’s NCAA championship teams from the 2022-2023 season, but Vice President Kamala Harris filled in for him," it added.

"His meeting with NATO chief Jens Stoltenberg was postponed until Tuesday, according to the White House. Hovering over the sit-down will be a personnel issue: Who will replace the outgoing NATO leader when he departs his post later this year?" CNN noted.
"Biden hasn’t yet settled on a candidate to support to replace Stoltenberg, a senior US official said. The job traditionally goes to a European, but requires the backing of the American president – NATO’s largest and most powerful member," it added.
The root canal comes after a recent report that the president "eats like a child," noting his emphasis on eating sweets, including his favorite treat, ice cream.
The procedure also adds to a growing list of health concerns for the president. Biden is already the nation's oldest sitting president at 80 and would be 86 if he completes a second term.
The list of problems seems to continue growing for Biden, this time including a trip for dental work that changed his schedule on national and international issues as the president continues his efforts to win a second term.
