A handful of 9/11 masterminds received incredible news this week after a military appeals court tossed the idea of getting rid of the sweetheart plea deals originally made by President Joe Biden and his administration.

And now, understandably, the family members of the victims of the 9/11 terrorist attacks -- and GOP lawmakers -- are furious, according to the New York Post.

The military appeals court nixed the administration's attempt at reversing earlier plea deals it cut with some of the leaders behind the devastating 9/11 attacks on United States soil.

The decision is a massive blow to the Biden administration, especially after going back and forth on the issue for years.

What did they say?

Several Republican members of Congress spoke out after news of the military appeals court's decision hit the headlines.

Rep. Anthony D’Esposito (R-NY), a former NYPD detective, was one of them. He held nothing back in his assessment of the sickening situation that will ultimately let the terrorists behind 9/11 escape the death penalty.

"Last week, Biden saved the lives of 37/40 death row inmates,” D’Esposito wrote on X. “Now, his admin’s reckless incompetence may result in a sweetheart deal for architects of 9/11."

He added, "Biden is fundamentally anti-victim & pro-criminal — totally backwards."

Rep. Mike Lawler (R-NY) also weighed in, writing on his X account, "This is an abomination. The fact that Joe Biden allowed these plea deals to happen on his watch is unforgivable."

He added, "Nearly 3,000 families will never be the same because of 9/11 — they have the right to see those responsible for their suffering face the death penalty."

Social media reacts

Users across social media, including conservative comedian and actor James Woods, shared their opinions on Biden's latest disaster.

Another X user wrote, "I couldn’t believe this when I first saw it the other day. My oldest son lived near the towers when they fell, we were unable to reach him for five days, he lost numerous friends. We grieve still. This is a direct slap in the face to all those who lost loved ones that day, to all the first responders who served, and to all those who lost more loved ones in the ensuing war that followed. Joe Biden is truly the worst President ever."

The worst part is that Biden and his administration don't even really seem to care.
