Biden jokes about looking for a job while hosting group of content creators at White House

For the most part, since being forced out of the presidential race by his own party, President Joe Biden has been fairly quiet.

According to the New York Post, at a recent White House gathering during which several top social media influencers gathered, the elderly president did his best to entertain the crowd.

One of his jokes included his future lack of employment, saying to the influencers, "I'm looking for a job."

Not surprisingly, the room full of Biden-friendly influencers provided the president with a round of laughter.

What did he say?

Biden praised the room full of influencers for creating the content that his grandchildren consume on social media.

"I’m looking for a job," he told the crowd. "What do you think when I retire? What do you think? I got contacts, man."

Right on queue, Biden made an awkward and bizarre joke about the White House Press Corps, as the Post noted:

The president also asked at the content-creator event if the White House press corps in the room was the “real” or “fake press” — before clarifying he was trying to be humorous, after routinely bashing his predecessor Donald Trump as irresponsible for using such dismissive terms for journalists.

The 81-year-old president proceeded to ask if any "non-press" in the room wanted to ask him a question. As soon as a press member began talking, Biden immediately shut that down, to nobody's surprise.

"I’m not talking to you guys," Biden said after journalist Raquel Krahenbuhl of Brazil’s Globo News TV attempted to ask a valid question about Venezuela's controversial recent election. Then it got really weird.

"Shhhhhh!" Biden told the female reporter as she continued to press him for answers. "I’m not going to answer your question, I’m talking to them first."

Granddaughter's influence

Biden admitted to the room full of content creators that he didn't pay attention to them until his granddaughter explained how important they are.

"Until about three, four months ago, I didn’t pay very much attention, following you guys," Biden said. "Until about three, four months ago, I didn’t pay very much attention, following you guys."

While that was Biden's supposed reason for inviting the creators, others believe it was to convince them to spin up hype about the Harris-Walz ticket in November.

Biden and his White House have hosted influencers in the past in the hopes of winning them over.
