Biden says 'turning point' on gun violence has been reached

President Joe Biden continued to hammer the idea of more gun control on Friday, the one-year anniversary of the passage of the Safer Communities Act, saying that he believes a "tipping point" has been reached.

“Whether you’re Democrats or Republicans we all want families to be safe. We all want to drop them off at a house of worship, a mall, a movie, a school door without worrying that it’s the last time we’re going to see them. We all want our kids to have the freedom to learn, to read and to write instead of learning how to duck and cover in a classroom. And above all, we all agree we are not finished. We are not finished. We are not finished,” Biden said at the National Safer Communities Summit in Connecticut.

The summit was by invitation only, and Biden was the keynote speaker.

Besides last year's legislation that he somehow got through Congress with minimal bipartisan support, Biden has also made two dozen executive orders around restricting law-abiding people's access to guns.

"We are not finished"

There's really nothing more he can do to advance his gun-stripping agenda without congressional action, which is not going to happen with Republicans in charge of the House, so now all he can do is use the bully pulpit to try to guilt people into doing what he wants.

That's also not going to work, but it won't stop him from trying.

"Whether we’re Democrats or Republicans, we all want families to be safe.  We all want to drop them off at the house of worship, a mall, a movie, the school door without worrying if that’s the last time we’re ever going to see them," he said.

"We all want our kids to have the freedom to learn to read and to write instead of learning how to duck and cover in a classroom," he went on.

"And above all, we all agree: We are not finished.  We are not finished.  We are not finished."

He's kind of finished

That's a nice sentiment, but pretty much, he is finished, unless he somehow manages to get elected and get control of both houses of Congress again.

Protesters gathered outside as he spoke, and they realized what those inside the room didn't--the Second Amendment helps us keep our freedom.

Law-abiding people are better off with guns to protect themselves against those who don't respect gun laws or any laws, for that matter.

Preaching to the choir

He did praise the people in the room, who made up the choir he was preaching to.

“You’ve turned your cause into reality. I believe we’ve reached a tipping point. I really do, I swear to God. The people in this room are the big reason why we’ve reached that tipping point,” Biden said.

" A free people [claim] their rights, as derived from the laws of nature."
