Biden took more days off than any other modern president
It turns out that former President Joe Biden took more days off than any other president in modern history.
The official number, according to the New York Post, is 577 days.
That is the better part of two years, and he was only in office for four years.
As we will see, there is a big difference between Biden and President Donald Trump, in this regard. But, it is likely that you do not even need to see the numbers to know this. Rather, you can probably feel it.
Here are the details:
The New York Post sums the situation up nicely.
It writes:
Biden, 82, took more time off than any other US president in modern history, spending 577 of his 1,463 days in office – or 39% of his presidency — on vacation, according to shocking new data compiled by the Republican National Committee. The average American — who gets 11 paid vacation days a year — would have to work 52 years to rack up as much down time as Biden scored in his four years.
Now, let us add some more perspective to the situation.
Behind Biden is Goerge H.W. Bush, who spent 543 of his 1,461 days as president on vacation. That's roughly 37%. Biden is also ahead of George W. Bush, who spent 35% of his presidency on vacation - 1,020 out of the 2,922 days.
Trump, for his part, took about 381 out of his 1,461 days off, which is about 26%. Trump, though, is not the president with the least vacation time. That honor would go to Jimmy Carter, who only took 5% or 79 days off.
It is worse than it appears
Newsmax notes that it is not just about the number of days off but it is also about when those days were taken off.
Per the outlet:
Biden's vacation tally included time off during critical moments of his presidency. After pressure from fellow Democrats, Biden dropped his reelection bid on July 21 and then spent 43 of the next 70 days — 61% of that period — on vacation.
As for where Biden went during these days off.
The outlet reports:
Records show that Biden frequently retreated to his vacation home in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, before being replaced on the Democrat ticket by Vice President Kamala Harris. He also spent time at Camp David, California's Santa Ynez Valley wine country, and his Wilmington, Delaware, residence. His vacations included a 23-day stretch away from Washington between Aug. 8 and Sept. 2, followed by trips to Nantucket in November and St. Croix, Virgin Islands, in December.
It must be nice.
