Biden will not return to campaign trail before Election Day: report

Joe Biden has been greatly diminished as he faces the end of his single term as president. His record is so toxic, the Harris campaign wants nothing to do with him in the home stretch before Election Day.

Indeed, according to NBC, Biden will not appear on the campaign trail with Kamala Harris between now and November 5.

“Harris has to be establishing herself as a change agent, and it’s hard to do that with a sitting president at her side,” one longtime Democratic strategist said.

Biden LEAVING...

Biden has not been seen on the campaign trail since Labor Day, so his wife Jill Biden, Bill Clinton, and Barack and Michelle Obama have jumped in to push Harris over the top.

"He’s out there doing the job as president, and she’s out there campaigning,” one White House official, who requested anonymity, told NBC News. “It’s clear voters want something new.”

The decision to keep Biden away from voters was a joint one between administration officials and the Harris campaign, NBC reported. But there's no question that it's going to sting for Biden, who just months ago was fighting for a second term.

Biden has all but vanished from public view since he gave in to pressure from his own party to drop out of the race. In recent days, Biden has appeared to steal the spotlight from his vice president at times, fueling speculation of a grudge.

The lame duck Biden held his first-ever press briefing this month, overshadowing a Harris campaign event in Michigan, for example.

"Cut her own path"

Harris insiders recently complained to Axios that the White House isn't coordinating sufficiently with the Harris campaign, which has labored to downplay the simple fact that Harris is the current vice president in an unpopular White House.

During her only tough interview during this entire campaign, on Fox News, Harris said she would not be a "continuation" of Biden if elected.

Biden and Harris have synced up their messaging in recent days, with Biden pledging Harris will "cut her own path."

Despite the public display of unity, an open wound remains from Nancy Pelosi's ruthless coup against Biden over the summer.

The two haven't spoken, and Biden has insisted that he would have beaten Trump if he stayed in the race, but that will always remain a "what if."
