The FBI, under the presidency of Joe Biden, took a nosedive in the reputation and trust department, as many believed that the agency was being weaponized at the political level -- in favor of Democrats.

According to the New York Post, another reason why so many believe that surfaced this week as it was revealed that an FBI probe following the 2020 election "scrutinized nearly 100 Republican and GOP-aligned groups or people." 

The operation was known as "Arctic Frost," and it reportedly even targeted Turning Point USA -- founded by slain conservative activist Charlie Kirk.

The bombshell news regarding the FBI's probe into conservative groups was revealed this week in documents that were unclassified and released by the FBI.

What's going on?

The files were made public by Iowa Republican Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley, noting that “Arctic Frost was much broader than just an electoral matter."

Grassley explained that the probe "expanded to Republican organizations."

“Some examples of the groups the [Christopher] Wray FBI sought to place under political investigation included the Republican National Committee, Republican Attorneys General Association and Trump political groups,” Grassley said.

Broader intent

Grassley made sure to mention that Kirk's organization, Turning Point USA, was on the list of targeted groups.

“On that political list was one of Charlie Kirk’s groups, Turning Point USA," the Iowa Republican said.

He added, “In other words, Arctic Frost wasn’t just a case to politically investigate Trump. It was the vehicle by which partisan FBI agents and DOJ prosecutors could achieve their partisan ends and improperly investigate the entire Republican political apparatus."

Social media reacts

Users across social media had plenty to say about Grassley's bombshell revelation.

"Arctic Frost was a hidden FBI investigation initiated around 2021–2022, early in the Biden administration, targeting former President Donald Trump. The probe involved seizing cell phones and conducting extensive interviews as part of efforts related to the 2020 presidential election electors. This was done to ruin Trump so that he would not run again for president," one X user wrote.

Another X user wrote, "Still waiting for the Comey and Gang perp walk…"
