Bill Maher claims Democrats and Republicans secretly want their 2024 candidate dead

Leftist comedian Bill Maher recently made some attention-grabbing claims about President Joe Biden.

He did so, according to the Daily Mail, during a recent interview with the New York Times

For those unfamiliar with Maher, he is a Democrat who has been very critical of Biden heading into the 2024 presidential election. Not only that, but Maher has also been critical of some of the more extreme aspects of the Democrats' agenda.

Still, though, it has to be emphasized that Maher is no Republican. As critical as he is about Biden, he is 10 times as critical of Republicans and, especially, former President Donald Trump, for whom he has a particular hatred.

Maher's claims

Maher made a number of attention-grabbing claims during the interview.

For example, Maher said that both Republicans and Democrats, contrary to popular belief, actually do have some things in common. One such thing, according to Maher, is that "they are both hoping their candidates die" before the 2024 election.

It's not clear how many Americans would agree with that one. There have been polls, however, that have shown that a sizeable percentage of Americans aren't crazy about the rematch between Trump and Biden.

Maher, though, didn't stop there.

Regarding Biden, he said that the 81-year-old president ought to just accept where he is at in life and say, "I walk like a toddler with a full diaper, but I believe in democracy."

There's more

Maher made national news headlines this past weekend for a couple of other things he had to say.

For one, he seemed to come on in support of Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker, following the controversial commencement speech that he gave at Benedictine College. To be clear, the speech is only controversial if you are a Democrat.

Then, Maher commented on the recent news that Biden and Trump, will, after all, engage in some debates - despite the fact that Biden and the White House have spent months trying to avoid this.

"To me, it says Biden knows he's losing because otherwise he wouldn't have agreed. Only the loser wants to debate," Maher said, suggesting the reason why Biden has suddenly agreed to do the debate.

It was a big weekend for Maher, one that has earned him some applause from Republicans. Still, Republicans shouldn't get too enthusiastic about the situation. Maher has made it clear that he will be voting for Biden over Trump.
