Cancelled government contracts included funding for an Anthony Fauci museum exhibit

During last year's campaign, President Donald Trump pledged to task Tesla CEO Elon Musk with eliminating fraud and waste within the federal government.

Musk came one step closer to that goal last week when it was revealed that $182 million worth of government contracts were being shut down.

Cancelled contracts "were entirely for administrative expenses"

According to Fox News, that announcement came on Friday in the form of a Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) social media post.

"In the past 48 hours, [Health and Human Services] canceled 62 contract [sic] worth $182 million," the DOGE post explained.

It noted that the contracts in question "were entirely for administrative expenses" with none of them relating to "any healthcare programs."

NIH Museum wanted to build an exhibit dedicated to Anthony Fauci

Among the canceled expenditures was a $168,000 which had been allocated to build "an Anthony Fauci exhibit at the NIH Museum."

Fox News noted that Dr. Anthony Fauci is the former director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID).

While many Democrats lionized Fauci during the COVID-19 pandemic, Kentucky Republican Sen. Rand Paul has accused him of helping to create the virus by funding illegal gain-of-function research in China.

Fox News reported late last month that Trump revoked Fauci's security detail, telling reporters, "I think, you know, when you work for government, at some point your security detail comes off and, you know, you can't have them forever."

FEMA spent $59 million to house illegal migrants in luxury hotels

News of HHS's decision to cancel the contracts was followed three days later by more revelations of government mismanagement, this time in the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

"The [DOGE] team just discovered that FEMA sent $59M LAST WEEK to luxury hotels in New York City to house illegal migrants," Musk wrote in a post on his personal X account.

"Sending this money violated the law and is in gross insubordination to the President’s executive order," the DOGE head stressed.

"That money is meant for American disaster relief and instead is being spent on high end hotels for illegals! A clawback demand will be made today to recoup those funds," Musk went on to add.
