Chairman Comer to deny request from Biden doctor to pause probe

House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer, a Republican from Kentucky, doesn't believe a word spoken by former President Joe Biden's doctor, who repeatedly cleared him for duty despite his obvious cognitive decline.

According to Fox News, Comer denied a request from former White House phyiscian Dr. Kevin O'Connor, who wanted Comer to suspend an ongoing probe into "whether ex-President Joe Biden’s top allies 'covered up' evidence of his mental and physical decline."

O'Connor's lawyers asked for a pause in the probe while a "parallel" Department of Justice investigation was ongoing.

Comer charged that the request was simply another tactic used in an attempt to delay the investigation.

What's going on?

The request comes on the heels of O'Connor making headlines for pleading the Fifth Amendment during testimony before the House Oversight Committee, a move Comer also suggested was further proof that the doctor was part of a cover-up.

"Dr. O’Connor doesn’t want to give the American people the truth about President Biden’s cognitive decline, and his attorneys are throwing out every excuse to see what sticks. We requested his testimony over a year ago, but the Biden White House blocked him from appearing before the Oversight Committee," Comer said.

He added, "Now that we’ve compelled him to come forward and the White House waived executive privilege, Dr. O’Connor has resorted to pleading the Fifth Amendment to keep the truth hidden."

O'Connor was compelled to testify via Comer's congressional subpoena powers, though his testimony didn't amount to much.

Fox News noted:

The Kentucky Republican subpoenaed O'Connor to appear before his committee, which is also investigating whether any Biden administration decisions were signed off via use of an autopen, and whether it was with the then-president's knowledge.

Biden's former inner circle and allies have defended the former president, insisting that Joe Biden was the final sign-off on all decisions made in the Oval Office.

Social media reaction

Users across social media also overwhelmingly believe O'Connor is following orders from higher powers in Biden's atmosphere.

He should be arrested immediately, along with everyone who aided in the cover‑up. They all put our country in danger," one X user wrote.
