Chelsea Handler likens first lady to a prostitute during awards show speech
First Lady Melania Trump has long been targeted by members of the left, with some even mocking her Eastern European accent.
That phenomenon was on display late last week when comedian Chelsea Handler compared the first lady to a prostitute.
Host references plot of film "Anora"
According to Breitbart, Handler's off-color remarks came this past Friday evening as she was hosting the Critics Choice Awards.

"It was a huge year for biopics....'Anora,' about Melania Trump," Handler said, referencing a 2024 film starring actress Mikey Madison.
IMDB explained that the movie features a "young sex worker from Brooklyn" who "meets and impulsively marries the son of an oligarch."
Handler later declared, "I wanna acknowledge that we’ve been through a lot lately … our entire country, waking up every day, not knowing what news we’re gonna hear that will disappoint and horrify us..."
Handler told African American ex-boyfriend he "can't vote for Donald Trump"
This was far from being the first time that Handler has raised eyebrows, as Newsweek recalled how she did so in 2020 with racially charged remarks about her ex-boyfriend 50 Cent.
"You heard about my ex-boyfriend right, 50 Cent and his support of Donald Trump?" Newsweek quoted Handler as telling "Tonight Show" host Jimmy Fallon.
"I had to remind him that he was a Black person, so he can't vote for Donald Trump," she declared before adding that the rapper "shouldn't be influencing an entire swathe of people who may listen to him, because he's worried about his own personal pocketbook."
Handler was slammed by critics on social media, with one user complaining that "white liberal women are some of the most racist people in existence." Another stated, "Condescending, white, racist Karen telling Black men who they're allowed to vote for... great."
Poll shows first lady enjoys positive approval numbers
Meanwhile, a poll commissioned by CNN and carried out by SSRS between January 9 and January 12 found that Mrs. Trump is regarded favorably by 33% of American adults whereas 30% see her in an unfavorable light. Another 32% have no opinion.
The first lady is slightly more popular among men than women, with 38% of the latter group viewing her favorably compared with 27% who feel unfavorably towards her.
What's more, a full 69% of Republicans express favorable sentiments towards Mrs. Trump. That figure dropped to 24% among independent voters and 10% among Democrats.
