Liz Cheney attacks Elon Musk after he shared post claiming she was 'spawned out of USAID'

There has been an anguished outcry of opposition from most Democrats and even some Republicans as tech billionaire Elon Musk, in his role as head of the Department of Government Efficiency, has worked to expose the massive amounts of waste, fraud, and abuse within the U.S. Agency for International Development, or USAID.

That includes former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY), who bizarrely attacked Musk over his citizenship status after he highlighted how her political career had been "spawned out of USAID," according to the Independent.

In truth, the vehemently anti-Trump ex-congresswoman is just mad that her many efforts to destroy Trump have failed spectacularly, including the second impeachment of Trump in 2021 and the now defunct hyper-partisan select committee to investigate the Jan. 6 Capitol riot, to say nothing of her endorsement and support for former Vice President Kamala Harris' failed campaign last year.

Liz Cheney was "spawned out of USAID"

The back and forth between Musk and Cheney stemmed from an X post on Tuesday from Mike Benz, a former State Department official during President Trump's first term who is now the executive director of the Foundation for Freedom Online organization, who criticized Cheney and shared a prior post from December that revealed the former congresswoman's connection to the corrupt and wasteful USAID.

The December post included a screenshot of a news article that described how Cheney's career in politics had included a stint at USAID before moving to the State Department -- where she specialized in "Middle East matters" and "democracy promotion" -- while her father, Dick Cheney, served as the vice president.

In Tuesday's post, Benz wrote, "Liz Cheney, who led Trump’s impeachment and the mass imprisonment campaign against thousands of Trump supporters, was spawned out of USAID."

Musk, likely signaling his agreement, shared the post from Benz and added as a caption, "Interesting."

Cheney attacks Musk's citizenship

Nearly 24 hours later, presumably after it had been brought to her attention by others, ex-Rep. Cheney shared Musk's repost of Benz and appeared to defend USAID and her work there while also attacking the knowledge and U.S. citizenship status of the wealthy migrant from South Africa.

"Damn right, @Elon. I’m proud of what America did to win the Cold War, defeat Soviet communism, and defend democracy," Cheney said. "Our nation stood for freedom. You may be unfamiliar with that part of our history since you weren’t yet an American citizen."

Unfortunately for Cheney, the comments in response to her attack on Musk were overwhelmingly negative, with many pointing out the disgraceful blanket pardon she'd received from former President Joe Biden, her devastating primary loss by dozens of points in 2022, and that she was an allegedly corrupt war-mongering political hack like her father, among other choice critiques.

It was also noted by the Independent that Musk, though born and raised in South Africa, immigrated legally to the U.S. and became a U.S. citizen in 2002 -- right around the same time that Cheney was working at USAID and the State Department during the Bush administration.

USAID exposed and dismantled

As for Musk and DOGE, they have been on a tear over the past week or so at fully exposing the apparent rampant corruption and highly partisan spending at USAID of billions of U.S. taxpayer dollars on obscenely wasteful, fraudulent, and abusive programs and projects worldwide.

Reports indicate that dozens, if not perhaps hundreds or even thousands of USAID employees have been placed on administrative leave or fired as the agency is in the process of being dramatically downsized, with whatever remnant of legitimate foreign aid left over being rolled into the State Department, where it likely belonged in the first place.

Cheney, meanwhile, can do little more than sit and fume and launch impotent attacks as the USAID slush fund for leftist globalism she once was a part of is dismantled under the authority of the president whom she tried and failed to destroy, politically and financially, and has now triumphantly returned to the White House.
