The New York Post reported that pop music sensation Cher is seeking to establish a conservatorship for her 47-year-old son Elijah Blue Allman.

That move comes in the wake of allegations that the legendary singer hired men as part of a kidnapping plot.

Allman known to struggle with addiction and mental health problems

According to the Post, Cher is seeking to become sole conservator of Allman's estate as he is "substantially unable to manage his own financial resources."

A court document was quoted saying that she "has been unable to discuss Elijah’s preferences concerning the appointment of a temporary conservator because given Elijah’s current mental and physical health issues, discussed in detail in the concurrently filed Confidential Supplemental Information, he is unable to form or express a preference concerning the appointment of a conservator for his estate."

It goes on to say Cher "is concerned that any funds distributed to Elijah will immediately be spent on drugs, leaving Elijah with no assets to provide for himself, and putting Elijah’s life at risk."

The Post noted that Allman, who Cher gave birth to during her marriage to Allman Brothers member Gregg Allman, has long struggled with substance abuse and mental health issues.

Allman's wife: Kidnappers said they were hired by Cher

The Post also reported in September that Cher was accused by Allman's estranged wife of hiring a group of men to kidnap her son in 2022.

Marieangela King leveled the allegation in a Los Angeles court declaration, saying that Allman was taken away from her on November 30, 2022, which was the day of their anniversary.

"I am currently unaware of my husband’s wellbeing or whereabouts," King asserted five days after the alleged kidnapping is said to have occurred.

"I am very concerned and worried about him," King continued before adding, "I was told by one of the four men who took him that they were hired by petitioner’s mother."

Cher denies kidnapping plot

For her part, Cher has denied King's kidnapping allegation, telling People magazine in October that the claim is "not true."

However, the singer went on to add, "You do anything for your children. Whenever you can help them, you just do it because that’s what being a mother is."

"But it’s joy, even with heartache — mostly, when you think of your children, you just smile and you love them, and you try to be there for them," she added.

" A free people [claim] their rights, as derived from the laws of nature."
