Clear majority of liberals want Musk in prison
It turns out that a clear majority of liberals actually want Elon Musk put in prison.
This is a finding that was recently made in a poll from Rasmussen Reports.
The big question, of course, is what exactly Musk did to warrant a prison sentence? It's probably best not to expect a logical answer to this question.
We'll start by looking at the poll's results.
80% of liberals, 71% of Democrats
It appears that this has something to do with Musk's recent work with the Trump administration's Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
This, of course, is the group that President Donald Trump created and tasked with finding and eliminating government waste, fraud, and abuse. Musk played a big role in the effort, even though he was technically not part of DOGE.
Here's what Rasmussen asked poll participants:
Elon Musk helped create the new Department of Government Efficiency, or DOGE. Some claim that DOGE has engaged in unconstitutional activities, while others support DOGE’s efforts to reduce government spending . . . Would you support a hypothetical law that would imprison Elon Musk for his role in DOGE?
The answer, to the surprise of many, was in the affirmative.
Rasmussen writes:
A new telephone and online survey by Rasmussen Reports and the Heartland Institute finds that 54% of Likely Voters would support a hypothetical law that would imprison Musk for his role in the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) . . . Seventy-one percent (71%) of Democrats would favor a hypothetical law to put Musk behind bars, as would 80% of self-identified liberal voters.
"A shocking indictment of the modern left"
At the time of this writing, it does not appear as though Musk has responded to the poll results. Others, though, have.
The Heartland Institute's Justin Haskin said this:
The fact that a majority of Democratic voters would support imprisoning Elon Musk for trying to make government more efficient is a shocking indictment of the modern left, which has become increasingly more tyrannical in recent years. We’ve reached a point where many Americans would rather unjustly punish innovation than fix the broken systems Musk was trying to reform.
It is truly insane that a majority of those on the left want to lock Musk up for simply trying to make our government more efficient.
It is even crazier when you consider the fact that Musk is not the first one to try to do this. Politicians on both sides have tried.
The key difference, however, is that Musk has actually had some success.
