New York Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is known for her strident rhetoric on climate change, suggesting in 2019 that it could cause the world "to end in 12 years."

However, the far-left congresswoman was mocked on social media this week after she was caught using a private jet.

Bombardier Challenger costs $15,000 per hour to operate

According to the Daily Mail, Ocasio-Cortez and Vermont Sen. Bernie were filmed by Fox News exiting from the aircraft on Tuesday.

Fox News noted how the plane in question was a Bombardier Challenger, which typically costs around $15,000 per hour to operate.

A PBS News report from last year cited a study that found private jet use in 2023 produced more carbon emissions than the nation of Tanzania.

Sanders warned that Trump's presidency could be world-ending

Ocasio-Cortez and Sanders have apparently been using private jets to facilitate the "Fighting Oligarchy" tour, which has seen them crisscross the nation.

The Daily Mail reported that during a "Fighting Oligarchy" event held in Omaha, Nebraska, earlier this year, Sanders suggested that the Trump administration poses a danger to human existence.

"This country today under Trump faces a series of crises unprecedented in our modern history, and what we do now will impact not only our lives, but the lives of our kids, grandchildren, future generations and whether the planet itself survives," the Vermont senator declared.

"We are rapidly moving toward an oligarchy form of society in which a handful of multi-billionaires not only have extraordinary, extraordinary wealth but unprecedented economic, media and political power," he went on to warn.

Ocasio-Cortez: "How many private jets do these CEOs need?"

Meanwhile, the Daily Mail observed that Ocasio-Cortez has made political hay out of private jet use in 2023, asking, "How many private jets do these CEOs need?"

That led to derision online, with one social media user writing, "You got to love the hypocrisy of the left! Bernie is paid by his Billionaire donors to 'Fight Oligarchy' one private jet trip at a time."

Another person stated, "Funny how those preaching fairness enjoy private jets. Real change comes from policies that empower hard-working Americans, not hypocritical virtue signaling."

Meanwhile, journalist Kyle Becker wrote, "Noted 'green' activist AOC jumps off a private plane on Earth day. What happened to saving the earth?"
