CNN analyst wants President Biden to nominate VP Harris to the Supreme Court
Just when the nation breathed a sigh of great relief after President-elect Donald Trump crushed Vice President Kamala Harris on Election Day, there are some pushing for Harris to remain in the picture.
According to Newsweek, in the wake of Trump's landslide victory on Tuesday, a CNN legal analyst suggested that President Joe Biden should nominate Harris to sit on the U.S. Supreme Court.
Of course, that would mean that one of the three sitting liberal justices would have to retire, likely Justice Sonia Sotomayor, and Biden would need to be on board.
If that were to happen, Harris would have to be confirmed by the Senate, which could be a tricky proposition.
What's going on?
Attorney Bakari Sellers, a former Democratic lawmaker out of the South Carolina House of Representatives, made the suggestion of Harris being moved to the high court during a recent CNN panel.
He wants Sotomayor to retire and for Biden to nominate Harris to the coveted position, simply to make Republicans "crazy" and to stir up more "chaos."

Not gonna happen. These people are just bitter. But remember this moment. pic.twitter.com/H3ntOTtSb4

Clearly, like many on the left this week, Sellers appears to be heavily triggered and upset about Trump's unmistakable defeat of Harris, now wishing to cause "chaos" as revenge.
Choosing Harris to sit on the Supreme Court doesn't make much sense, anyway, given her lack of experience. Few justices have been appointed who haven't previously served as judges.
Newsweek noted:
Harris was San Francisco district attorney and California attorney general before being elected senator, and then vice president. While electing an attorney with no judicial experience to the court is unusual, it is not unprecedented.
Pressure on Sotomayor
Long before the results of the 2024 presidential election, Justice Sotomayor faced heavy pressure from high-profile Democrats to step down while Biden still has the power to nominate a younger, healthier liberal justice.
Sotomayor's medical history and age are a major factor that has Democrats fearful that something could happen to her during a Trump presidency, which would ultimately mean Trump selecting another conservative justice -- it would be his fourth -- to the high court.
While it's extremely unlikely that Biden would nominate Harris, there's growing talk about Biden using his last few months in the White House to select a replacement for Sotomayor, but Sotomayor has given no indication that she'll be stepping down anytime soon.
Only time will tell, but regardless, the Supreme Court will still be a conservative majority for the foreseeable future.
