I’m so grateful for our community, for everyone who poured their hearts and souls into this movement. I will not stop fighting alongside my community for a city that truly cares for all of its people, because District 9 and Denver are my heart, always.❤️ pic.twitter.com/x9dwilpfOV

Her statement
"I’m so grateful for our community, for everyone who poured their hearts and souls into this movement," she tweeted with a statement after her loss.
"I will not stop fighting alongside my community for a city that truly cares for all of its people, because District 9 and Denver are my heart, always," she added.
Candi CdeBaca and challenger Darrell Watson is notable as one of the biggest blowouts of the last decade.
CdeBaca lost by a 21.42-point margin. She got 39.29% of the vote while Watson got 60.71%.

"CdeBaca is often the lone 'no' vote on council and her outspoken politics and controversies in her first term are making her a target from business leaders, who are backing Watson," Axios stated ahead of the election.
"Watson, who lost a council bid in 2007, is making cooperation his theme, telling Axios Denver that the district 'needs to have politicians who can work with their colleagues and the administration' rather than 'continued division,'" it added.
The outcome could impact the emphasis other Democrats give the reparations movement in upcoming elections.
In California, several cities have moved forward on reparation efforts for longtime black residents. So far, Gov. Gavin Newsom has been reluctant to back specific efforts.
The future could continue to leave reparations to the side, as the left recognizes the need to win rather than focus on the issue that remains controversial even among Democrats.
