The brand-new Donald Trump Department of Homeland Security celebrated a big win on Tuesday when they arrested a violent Tren de Aragua ringleader during ICE raids in New York City.

Heavily armed Homeland Security Investigations officers stormed an Ogden Avenue apartment building in The Bronx around 5 a.m. and captured Anderson Zambrano-Pacheco, 25.

Pacheco had several warrants out for his arrest in Colorado, where he was part of a group that broke in and took over an apartment building in Aurora in August.

Gang members took over a number of apartment buildings in the city in recent months, and the gang activity came to light when footage hit the national media.

Neighbors weigh in

Investigators don't know when Pacheco ended up in New York, but a neighbor said that the residents of the apartment he was found in moved in around September or October.

A woman and several children reportedly lived with Pacheco there.

Another woman who lives in the building said she saw Pacheco brought out in shackles.

“When they brought him out, he had shackles on his wrists to his feet,” she said. “His face had a real angry expression. It was strange.”

New DHS Secretary Kristi Noem was present for the raid. She showed up to speak to agents and officers conducting the raids under the new administration of President Donald Trump.

Noem's comments

Other raids were conducted in Queens and Manhattan.

“Dirtbags like this will continue to be removed from our streets,” she posted that day, although it is not known whether she was referring to Pacheco.

Trump announced plans on Wednesday to send up to 30,000 illegal immigrants to Guantanamo Bay, a military prison where detainees and terrorists have been kept.

“Most people don’t even know that we have 30,000 beds in Guantanamo to detain the worst criminal illegal aliens threatening the American people," he said.

“Some of them are so bad, we don’t even trust the countries to hold them, because we don’t want them coming back,” he added.
