Pro-Trump comic Tyler Fischer claims blacklsting from Fox News' 'Gutfeld!'
Fox News often promotes itself as the top conservative-leaning alternative to the more liberal broadcast and cable news networks, but some critics claim that, at least behind the scenes, Fox News is just as "woke" and left-leaning as its competitors.
One such critic is comedian Tyler Fischer, formerly a frequent guest on the Gutfeld! late night show, who now claims he's been blacklisted by the network for allegedly "harassing" a female staffer, according to the Daily Beast.
Fischer claims he's been banned from appearing on Gutfeld! after innocently asking a female staffer for a coffee date, but while Fox News hasn't commented on the allegation, anonymous sources at the network suggest there is more to the story than the comic has publicly revealed.
Fischer claims blacklisting
Fischer, who gained fame over the past few years with his impersonation of President Donald Trump, had appeared on Fox News' Gutfeld! more than a dozen times over the past two years, but hasn't been seen on the show since late January.
In a lengthy X post on Wednesday, Fischer announced, "After almost 2 years I will no longer be on @Gutfeldfox TV show. Sadly, they have gone full woke and kicked me off for a reason that is beyond hard to believe. What was my woke crime? I asked an employee out for coffee."
"Yes, that is why I’m off the show. I have proof of all this and am seeking legal counsel for defamation because this is absolutely insane," he continued. "It is not illegal or against any rules at Fox to ask a grown adult for coffee, but in the woke mind virus world, any advance by a man is labeled as some kind of toxic masculinity."
"This is why men have stopped approaching women in real life (off dating apps) because being chivalrous and doing what men have done forever (showing interest in women by offering to take them on a date) is now turned into a crime," the comedian added. "It’s beyond tragic to see men hide away in fear. I, for one, will not allow it to happen to me."
Taking aim at Fox News
Fischer went on to claim that he had made multiple attempts to discuss the apparent issue with the Fox News producers but has been "ghosted" and ignored, and though he expressed gratitude for the show's exposure that has garnered him more fans, he nonetheless proceeded to trash the network as "woke" and claimed that he and other guests are treated poorly.
"They pay the rotating guests ZERO even though we work our asses off and to prep for an episode we work just as hard as Greg and the 2 regular guests who all get paid. You are treated like an intern not like a professional guest," he asserted "We all travel, give up work to be there and write our own material. Not to mention, they will throw you under the bus and take the side of a woke, indoctrinated radical feminist instead of their loyal guests."
Fischer further claimed in follow-up posts that, after speaking out with his allegation, he has also been cancelled as the warm-up act for host Greg Gutfeld's live comedy shows later this month.
Differing accounts emerge
The Daily Mail, which was the first to report on the developing situation, shared that Fischer claims he was essentially blacklisted by Fox News over what he described as a "flirty little interaction" in which he asked a female staffer out for coffee before taping what turned out to be his final appearance on the "Gutfeld!" show on Jan. 30.
He explained that, after the woman apparently complained about his advance on her, security escorted him to the Gutfeld! set for the taping, after which he left the studio and then later learned that a scheduled appearance two weeks later had been cancelled.
Fox News did not respond to requests for comment, but an unnamed source told the outlet that Fischer's account of what happened is not entirely accurate, and instead asserted that Fischer grabbed the woman's phone, put his number in it, and demanded that she confirm receipt of his number in a "not friendly" manner that was witnessed by several other employees.
Both the Daily Mail and the Daily Beast noted that Fischer has made previous claims of discrimination and blacklistsing by Hollywood and talent agencies because he is white, though his edgy pro-Trump comedy routine is perhaps also a reason he has had trouble in the entertainment industry.
