Allison Greenfield, clerk for New York Justice Arthur Engoron, faces calls to be disbarred over political donations.

The complaint comes as Engoron leads former President Donald Trump's New York fraud trial.

The concern

The complaint "details significant political activity that Greenfield—the top clerk for Justice Engoron—has engaged in, including close relationships with top New York Democrats, including U.S. Senate Majority Leader Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and now former Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-NY)," according to Breitbart News.

"It also details several efforts she engaged in as a Democrat Party organizer, canvassing for party officials and working to elect Democrats to office," it added.

Trump's attacks

"Greenfield was previously the target of Trump’s ire in a mocking Oct. 3 social media post that led to Engoron issuing the initial gag order," the Daily Beast reported.

"The former president, who was in court that day, posted a photo of Greenfield with Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer to Truth Social, calling her 'Schumer’s girlfriend' and accusing her of bias," it continued.

Engoron's threats

"Judge Arthur Engoron was livid when he revealed that Trump failed to comply with the order and raised the possibility of putting the former president in prison," NBC News reported last month.

"Engoron said Trump had posted on his social media account 'an untrue and disparaging post about my clerk' and that he 'ordered him to remove the post immediately and he said he did take it down,'" it noted.

The threat of sentencing Trump to jail time has not seemed to slow the former president down. He has previously noted that he is willing to go to jail.

Instead, the threats have appeared to strengthen his campaign, with Trump currently leading the GOP field by a wide margin.

The latest concern about the judge's clerk shows political bias that should be recognized as part of the situation Trump faces in his New York fraud trial.
