President Donald Trump made headlines on Monday when he hosted a meeting at the White House with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

The exchange went better than Zelenskyy's last visit to Washington, with one member of Congress predicting that a "big win" is coming.

Representative: Zelenskyy "is going to have to make a deal"

According to Breitbart, that prediction was put forward by Missouri Republican Rep. Mark Alford during an appearance on Fox Business' "Mornings with Maria."

Alford told host Cheryl Casone that Ukraine's president "is going to have to make a deal" to end the war with Russia that has been raging for over three years.

"Obama pretty much gave up all of Crimea and with nothing, with no retaliation whatsoever on the part of Ukraine and any support from the U.S.," the lawmaker pointed out.

"I believe Zelensky is going to have to make a deal at some point, and we’re still going to have to keep Vladimir Putin at bay to make sure that he does not have any further aggressions into the Balkans," Alford stressed.

President trying to set up a trilateral meeting

For his part, Fox News reported that Trump expressed optimism about resolving the conflict between Russia and Ukraine despite no ceasefire being in place.

"I don't think you need ceasefire," the president was quoted as saying. "You know, if you look at the six deals that I settled this year, they were all at war."

"I didn't do any ceasefires," he continued. "And I know that it might be good to have, but I can also understand strategically why, you know, one country or the other wouldn't want it."

What's more, Trump also revealed that he had recently spoken with Russian President Vladimir Putin about setting up a trilateral meeting.

Trump brokered a peace deal between Armenia and Azerbaijan

This was not the only time that Trump has recently engaged in peacemaking efforts this month, as he also helped broker an agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

As Breitbart explained, Trump brought Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan to the White House to sign a deal on August 9.

"With this accord, we’ve finally succeeded in making peace, and we just left the Oval Office where we signed voluminous documents and very important elements to the agreement," he declared.

Reuters noted how the most recent round of hostilities broke out between Azerbaijan and Armenia two years ago when the former launched an offensive in the Nagorno-Karabakh region.
